Tavares is *probably* fine in a system that has more than 1 defenseman who’s capable of dishing a decent breakout pass out from behind the hashmarks under pressure.
Guys like Edmundson and Benoit just aren’t it if you are paying $60m to your forwards, you are actively working against the roster construction of your team by icing them unfortunately.
That’s not to understate how well they played, it’s just that having 4+ defensemen with their skillsets nerfs the teams biggest strength.

Domi looks really good at centre. Putting him with Willy, who can finish, could be huge. Put JT down to 3rd line and that’s some strong centre depth.

If Marner is traded, I think Trevor Zegras would be an interesting C for this team. I don’t like talking about trades or deals outside of signing Franson, Zegras and Nylander would look nuts out there.
