Absolutely. The contract isn't a factor, there is a lot of cap and roster spots to free up. I'd imagine that Yzerman would be very interested in Marner, if it's a possibility. His age matches perfectly with Red Wings timeline, and he plays a two-way game. This is an ideal match.
I think Stamkos and Marner are options that we should look into or at least think about. Like you said, it may not be financially workable or even the greatest of ideas, but it doesn't hurt to look into options or to leave no stone unturned. As far as referring to some of the fan base reactions, some can't accept even a slight criticism of the Yzerman Plan or Yzerman himself because he walks on water. For some, all the draft choices are somehow going to turn into superstars, even though history tells us that a lot of these young prospects never become stars or even NHL level quality players.
Absofuckinglutly I’d take Marner. What are you guys in here thinking? Of course you take a 100+ point player. Needs a change of scenery in a bad way. We love hockey here but we ain’t Toronto total WEIRDOS about hockey. I think he’d be a wonderful fit on a young up and coming team. People forget, Yzerman loves him a good trade.

Absolutely not.
Not for the money he wants
Yes Larken plays good with him, he mentioned it in the all star game last year
Wild how clueless Rico is.
Absolutely not
Anybody saying no is an idiot
No, Nyet, No. Mike must need the clicks.
Rico can’t spell hockey
Toronto is going to want a first pair defensemen. Won’t happen.

Mike always says he isn’t hockey elite. Dude knows some puck, I respect his knowledge and I think he can hold his own with hockey talk.
