The fact that he was a dirty Maple Leaf player should be held against him. Staois is a rookie GM and he is not a better judge of character than anybody off the street except that he is a buddy of Andlauer. Green may do well and I will applaud him. Wally does have an excellent point when he says that Green does not have a winning history. Jason is also on the money when he says bad goaltending will kill or make a coach.
I think Staios waited too long. So coaches like Berube say well if you didn’t want to hire me right away. I am going to wait to see what comes up. I think Staios taking all this time to make decisions could hurt us getting players etc. This just feels like the last on the list and the cheapest. He is taking his time with the Pinto contract too. This doesn’t feel like best in class.
My biggest problem isn't the person, but the timing. They waited all season, why not wait another couple weeks and see which coaches are fired after round 1. It's not like Green was one of the big names so I'm guessing demand for him was comparatively low, he would probably still be available in a few weeks so Staios, in theory, had the leverage in that respect. You had the patience to wait all year but not the patience to wait an extra couple of weeks?
I don't know who this guy is but what a terrible take. He names cassidy and de boer who have taken teams to the finals and had success. "why did they keep getting jobs?" versus green who made the playoffs once. Quenville is out there and once a team decides they want to win instead of virtue signal, he'll get hired and that team will have success.

“I don’t know who sens fans wanted to hire to go oh okay this is the perfect guy” oh idk maybe I guy with higher then a .470 total winning percentage.
I don’t understand why he got a 4 year term. Makes no sense. I’d of given him 1 year. U win we can re sign. U fail you’re gone

Another thought, Staios had a lot of success in the AHL and I'm guessing Green's AHL success probably appealed to him.
