1. Running it back with similar/worse results is not the way to go. With another laffs first round implosion rumours are out there about marner with isles on the list. Just more same old same old status quo until the bottom really falls out on isles. Best ufa market in years and several scorers could be moved yet isles can't get a sniff of any of the action. Thanks louzer. On the bright side isle 5th round pick j. gill is among q league scoring leaders as the drakkar advance to q league title series. Looks like dufour two seasons ago.

  2. A full rebuild by tanking isn't a guarantee of anything…i.e. CBJ, EDM (many many years of top picks). If your scouts are good enough, you should be able to find gold outside of the top 15 picks. Don't need to tank on purpose.

  3. CC and MM have both been great Islanders and it'll be sad to see them go, but I think it's inevitable. Clutterbuck can still command a decent salary and I think there'll be a few teams out there that will give him what he wants. Signing Mike Reilly should be a priority for the Isles. He was one of the better offensive defensemen on the team, and I think he'd fit in well.

  4. I’d be happy if Roy just straightens out Sorokin. I think if Roy had been in charge from the beginning of the season, the Isles would’ve easily surpassed 100 points plus though perhaps not avoided facing the Hurricanes in the first round. But, first round is not necessarily easier even if you finish relatively high as we saw with Bruins-Leafs or knights-Stars series. Anyway, the goalie fiasco with Sorokin just getting traumatized and losing confidence this year should be one of the priorities.

  5. Gil,it’s obvious to me that the property brothers don’t really care about the team. Please nobody buy season tickets. It’s over 20 years since senile Lou has one anything. To bring clutter and Martin back would be par for the course with Lou. The mayor can’t skate and clutter was on the worst pk in the league. Both easily replaceable. We have enough veterans in the room. lol. They should have never been resigned two years ago. Here’s next year’s team.
    Casey,Bo, barzy
    Holstrom,Nelson,palmieri
    Lee,jgp,engvall
    Fasching,Maclean, gauthier
    Iskhakov ,wahlstrom, aho all gone. Maybe bolduc is the seventh defenseman or maybe he’ll end up going too. Because we need to bring the journeyman Reilly back. Islanders only team in NHL that have NO need for an ahl team. We have some guys in Bridgeport who if ever were given a shot just might surprise people. Just like wotherspoon playing now with Boston. Or even Maclean who could have been up last season with Durandeau and iskhakov. Let’s see if Roy has any say in the players or not?
    Reilly =dennis cholowski
    Mayfield = grant Hutton
    Aho=salo 0:02

  6. May 4 th A day to remember Lou Lamarillo happy face on the back page of Newsday, fucking ruined my day, he needs to step away, once a great GM, he’ll retire a joke, the only hope we have is a change in player development a change of the coach for the PP, change of coach for PK, he sucks hard and the owner ship doesn’t care great show Gil thank you, and another thing I read a post Scott Mayfield played with a fucked up ankle
    For 42 fucking games my team is so fucked up we need to play injured players guys who play men’s league at midnight don’t play injured lol team is gotta be a little bit of a joke with in the league

  7. At this point I think I may even ask Garth Snow to come back! At least the islanders had some prospects.

  8. Everyone was badmouthing Mayfield and me personally I like him. I knew something was up because he looked terrible. Then you find out what he went through that’s crazy!

  9. Gil,it’s obvious to me that the property brothers don’t really care about the team. Please nobody buy season tickets. It’s over 20 years since senile Lou has one anything. To bring clutter and Martin back would be par for the course with Lou. The old man's ego is killing this team

  10. Good 🌄 Gil, how are you? As you can 👀 I'm back to 👂to you in the 🌄. Lou Lamoriello and Patrick Roy are both coming back, Lou shouldn't play with 🔥 (the media) because he will get burned. Patrick Roy's got an even bigger test, in this case THE WHOLE 82 GAME SEASON. Patrick Roy's gonna need some speedsters, and some players, especially while they're still young. We'll 👀 come Draft Day in Montreal next month. Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck both want to come back. Scott Mayfield fractured his ankle, and he never really recovered from it. Ilya Sorokin had a bad year by his ownadmission, but he has 4 months to get it together. Mike Reilly wants to to come back. Oliver Wahlstrom may not be coming back because he can't fit Patrick Roy's way of playing, or he doesn't get along Patrick Roy, which I find hard to believe. HAPPY 🎂 ZIGGY PALFFY. He was like having another Mike Bossy. To get off track, Vegas got knocked out in Dallas last night, and those Dreaded Rangers beat Carolina at The Garden. Hopefully, The Hurricanes might still make my wish come true. Hear from you tomorrow. Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS

  11. Islanders owners do you care for your team? Lou are you that desperate that you need job at 82 years old ? Be ashamed of you self nobody wants you here you kill this organizations in your 7 years here you kill our future in another few more years minimum..you killing our fan base…idiot like my self will be islanders fan for life I can sale my love of his jersey to someone else …you killing our future fans nobody fallow team like your…you killing me that's way I quit on this team until some professional lead this organizations….goodbye I hope you are gone SOON….LGI FOREVER ❤❤❤

  12. This roster has gone as far as it's gonna go thanks it was fun.. We need younger hungrier players and we'll never know what we have at Bridgeport until we play these kids a whole season

  13. Hi Gil, I’m ok with Lou and of course Patrick Roy coming back. I think next year they will be a little better. I love ❤️ Patrick Roy!!!

  14. Lou: "I couldn't be more pleased where we are today……I'm excited".
    Same old same old denial by Yoda. It's depressing. When asked if the team needs to get younger and faster, he said he can't answer that question. WTF?!? Yoda went into great detail about Roy' coaching success, but dodged EVERY question about his performance in building the roster. Why would Yoda go on and on about how brilliant Roy has been? Because that's a great move Yoda made. Why would he evade every roster question? Because he traded away four 1st round picks and a few other picks, got nothing for Eberle. He dumped Toews and is still searching for a puck moving D man to replace him. It's clear Malkin isn't listening. I'm convinced they used the team to build their hotel and retail center next to the racetrack. They can't be bothered with the team. Filling the arena and hotel while they build a suburban version of Rockerfeller center is all they ever wanted.
    Don't be surprised if Yoda ends up as president only and appoints his son GM.

  15. I think we should have signed Kuznetsov when he became available on waivers. Not sure if the money would have worked, but we definitely could have used a skill guy like that. Oh yeah, also he wouldn’t have been on Carolina…

  16. LOOK YOU LOST TO THE SAME FREAKING TEAM 3 CONSECUTIVE TIMES IN THE PLAYOFFS…..AND LAMORIELLO SEEMS TO BE VERY OK WITH THAT. GET RID OF THIS OLD MAN HE WAS A GREAT GM AT ONE TIME,HES NOW 83 YEARS OLD. .He should have been forced to retire at age 75. When you get beyond a certain age chances increase that you mental capabilities decrease.

  17. Good morning team. Gil, great show as always. I like what Sorokin said about working on his fundamentals and correcting the issues he was going through this season. It will be great if we can see last season's Ilya back in net. Have to give lots of credit and thanks to Varly as well. I have mixed feelings about seeing Martin & Clutter. Their age is an concern, as everyone's will be at some point. A team needs their style of hockey on the ice, but I feel it's better to get younger, in the long run. I'm also a Mayfield fan. I'd like to see him come back, when he gets his ankle/lower body injury corrected. Patrick Roy, I'm convinced he is bringing the team in the right direction with the style of play he wants for the team. Final, Lou. I truly believe he wants what's best for the team, always. Hopefully he is swinging around to knowing the team needs to be younger and faster. If we want it or not, he is our GM for at least another season. Might as well hope for the best. Everyone, have a great day! See you next show. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

  18. Would you rather be the Leafs? So close but? I have no idea how they will get to the next level. Mitch and Tavares will be out there. Ha ha. finally finally they have a first round draft pick this year! Unless he trades it…well next time you criticize a player’s game, you have to ask, are they injured like Mayfield was!

  19. Very Happy that Patrick is coming back! I think he will have a positive influence on the franchise going forward. Go Islanders!

  20. this team isn't going anywhere until lou retires or dies he's too stubborn to make any big changes

  21. Gil, I think you greatly overestimate the influence of the Head Coach on Lou's personnel decisions. Trotz and Lambert didn't have much input, and I can't imagine Lou will change his stripes to accommodate Roy. Certainly, his signings last summer (Mayfield and Engvall for seven years? $12 million tied up in nets? REALLY?) show zero evidence that Lou understands post-pandemic cap economics and management. We will see what happens over the off season, but the Isles are hamstrung by existing contracts and commitments.

  22. Great show as usual Gil. Lots to think about. I am not a Lou fan as he likes to keep things mostly status quo and this season for sure shows that doesn't cut it. Even when he does make moves I am not a fan. He got zero for Eberle. I also think that hurt Barzy's game as they had great chemistry. Got rid of Toews and Leddy but kept Josh Bailey. I love Josh with my hockey heart but my hockey head says bad move. Long term contracts for too many players at once. And on…and on… Mayfield playing hurt while valiant, I suppose, was also very stupid. He risked long term negative effects and it doesn't really help the team. Baldouc could have gotten a lot more ice time to prove himself. Did Mayfield's contract play a factor here? I will admit I bashed Mayfield a bit this year not knowing. Another Lou failing is his reluctance to let info out to fans. I am disappointed that Wally had a rough year as I like the kid but I am also excited that Kyle MacLean really showed something this season and should get his due. I am curious to see a full season from Ruslan. On the D I really like Reilly. Has some speed, able to handle puck. willing to jump up, great motor. While don't dislike Aho I think we can do better. Bortuzzo was a good step in veteran presence but also not on my list for keeping around. Ia also really like Romanov. He needs some polishing but he is a gutsy kid who puts in the effort. I feel Ilya will come around. I think he suffered mostly from the fatigue and the league figuring him out. He did not recognize or adjust that very well this season. Maybe he built up some intense internal expectation (bet he compares himself to world class best friend too) on the back of last year as well knowing the fans and team would depend heavily on him. I can't say enough about Semyon. he is a great dude, well spoken, good for Ilya (IMHO), and steady between the pipes. Definitely a 1B for us who could be a 1A for anyone else. As Barzy is my favorite player, and has been since he came to the team, I hope they continue to try and put some pieces around him that would really help elevate his and the team's game. Seems to me he has tried to work on his game every year to bring something more to the table where he can. He certainly has stepped up his defensive game this year (takeaways).

  23. I didn’t know Ziggy was my age, man time flys by! (I’m going to go watch his highlights on YouTube right now). Great show as usual Gil.

  24. Keeping the core together is fine if the team has an exceptional core…..70s Frogs…80s Isles…80s Oilers.. etc etc….Sorry but this teams core is decent but nothing more…………….Changes need to be made and i am pretty sure Ownership has little clue other than investment……Bums my head!

  25. If I remember correctly. I had heard, Lou signed a 2 year extension at the end of last season. .. So, yeah. He'll be back. I just hope he's gone after this next season.

  26. So much to write…. But I hope PR gets to pick his coaching staff next year and not keep Lamberts holdovers

  27. I came in thinking not to expect much from Lou, but for some reason, he was interesting by showing defiance and being sensitive to criticism by being salty at Andrew Gross. I mean c'mon. It's been three frustrating seasons, so of course, Lou had to expect questions and criticism. He came off sounding like Richard Nixon in that presser by being defiant. It was really awkward.

    I am not sure what Lou can do to improve this team other than breaking up this team and really start over, which is why I wanted Lou to go so the new guy can get started quickly. I felt Patrick Roy would have been fine rebuilding.

  28. We may need to size up a bit .
    Laviolette used Lumpy and size to neutralize Devils . His fan base loves it as Isles become a threat
    He will not hesitate to goon it up.
