Le premier commentaire l’a mieux dit, nos tirs à faible danger ne fonctionnent pas contre les gardiens de but d’élite, cela les garde simplement au chaud.

    Very, very eye-opening stuff here.

Based on how the series has progressed at 5v5, you’d think we’re just having some bad luck, but the xG and « inner slot shots » point to a system issue.

I don’t think we should be abandoning our high-pressure « pucks on net » foundation, but we clearly need to combine this with more of a real PLAN of attack, especially in the playoffs.

We also need players up and down the lineup that can execute set plays. Will need to be addressed in the summer, but the good news is we’ll have the cap room to go that route if we want.

I love Rod and I want him to remain our coach, but I hope the pattern here is something he and the FO will learn a valuable lesson from.

(And to be clear, some of this IS bad fortune. Both this and the Panthers series were agonizingly close…even WITH system issues, losing all seven games thus far undoubtedly has an element of bad luck to it. It doesn’t help that the East is overloaded with elite, proven goalies compared to the West.)

While I agree, it’s just hard to nit pick 5v5 when the glaring issue is right there in front of you.

Regular special teams: 27% PP, 86% PK.

Special teams this series: 0% PP, 70% PK

He should have learned to have greater diversity in our shot selection last year against Florida.
We now face a miracle to save our season.

This team has the ability to make a comeback only if Rod is willing to make adjustments. We can’t keep running it back with the same strategy and expect different results, that’s insanity. Only the GAS line is working, while trying to split up the talent across the other 3 isn’t working. Stack up the top 2 lines and see what happens. Need to be going to the net more and stop playing the perimeter on the PP

Let’s put it in golf terms. Me and my buddy go golfing. He shoots a 67. He’s pretty good. I shot a 140. I’m terrible. Who expended more energy? I took more than twice the swings. Now how many rounds could I play before I can’t get up off the ground? How many rounds can the canes play taking that level of shots before you just run out of steam? Maybe that’s why they get worse as the playoffs go on every year.
