  1. Rangers fan here, by birthright, but a hockey fan first and foremost. Lots of respect for this Canes roster (except maybe Tony, can ya blame me?) and the entire organization going back to the Hartford days.

Never been a big homer, always love to check on broadcasts or analysis from the other side and wanted to say I absolutely love the show, might even keep listening beyond the series. In a series that could just as easily be 3-0 the other way with the odd break or two, really respect the way you separate the frustration you're completely entitled to from the analysis.

You capture all the emotion without letting it fog up the takes, and that's a rarity out there. Much love from the nation's capital

  2. The Canes might be "outplaying" the Rangers overall at times(except for where it counts on the scoreboard) but hey look on the bright side…….You are out shooting us every game!!!🙂🙃😇

  3. Hes asking the right question. Canes have the system and the talent. I honestly believe as a Rangers fan that goaltending is the difference. If Carolina had a top tier goaltender then those losses turn to wins.

  4. What's the matter folks? Can't beat a team where 12 regulars aren't hurt. I love it. Where's the trolling now?

  5. As a rangers fan this is the sad reality sometimes… rangers had runs like the canes from 2012-2017… it was always something. Could never win the overtime. Sometimes you’re just not good enough to win, even though you are close.

  6. The canes biggest issues are first and foremost, their predictability. Every team knows how they play, and at times, it can be tough to match their intensity. However, simply shooting the puck from all over the ice has only benefitted Igor. Helps him get dialed in. Secondly, rod hasn’t made the necessary adjustments that are required in the post season. He is simply being out coached. Why in the world was orlov on against the panarin line when he scored in ot last night when Carolina had home ice/last change? They outshot the rangers 2:1, yet they had ONE single shot from the slot (ended up being the goal) and the rangers doubled up on them in terms of high danger opps. Obviously, their special teams are killing them. Have no idea what they are doing on their pp – they’re consistently taking shots on their pp that you’d take 5 on 5. It’s stagnant and again, doesn’t seem to have a game plan. Is that another coaching issue? Maybe, but I don’t know. Lastly, playing as aggressive as they play ALL YEAR LONG only serves to make them more predictable and potentially tires them out. Running 9 forwards in game 2 OT while the rangers ran 12 was def a difference maker come 2nd ot. Say what you will but rod the bod is stubborn and back to making bizarre post game comments

  7. I disagree. Canes D has not played well. At all. Giving up a shorty when you have the numbers and Burns allowing Kreider to smoke him? Odd man rushes including multiple breakaways and brain farts in your zone in OT do not equate to "playing well". Compare that to how the Rangers D has kept rushes to a minimum and shots to the outside. Yeah Canes can live in our zone but you are not getting a great shot. That's why the Rangers are winning.

  8. As a hardcore Rangers fan..I have nothing but respect for Rod. He made hockey relevant in Carolina. I love their "bunch of Jerks" run. He's a players coach and I respect for him sticking up for his team. Carolina fans seem to have no clue how lucky they are. It just happens to be the Rangers time this year.

  9. Sure the Canes press other teams but Rangers had 4 breakaways. Not a good formula to win games. Plus Canes don’t get many high danger chances. Too many wide angle shots.

  10. The post season is absolutely the worst possible time to have a four-game losing streak. The regular season is just when you get enough points to get into the playoffs and have as much home ice advantage as possible, and build chemistry and come up with strategies and tactics. It doesn’t mean squat beside that. If RBA is incapable of guiding a team in the playoffs to a winning mentality and play that can get them to the cup, then how is he not being talked about as part of the problem.

The lines and the scratches and adapting to other teams adapting to us is critical. Having a “system” that you won’t adjust when the other team has you figured out, is insanity. The Canes have not only been outplayed, but without question outcoached. Personally, I’d give Rod a one-year extension, with an automatic two-year extension added on only if the team makes it to the finals at the very least. The team has made the playoffs for six consecutive years, but they are not making any progress toward winning the cup. If the fans are happy with just making the playoffs, then keep doing what you’re doing Mr. Brind’Amour.

At some point though, the fans are going to demand more and demand a different lineup and a different coaching staff. This is absolute crap though-the business as usual “we played well but didn’t get the bounces. I told my friend sitting next to me at game 3 that if the Canes don’t come out like angry wounded dogs and score 2-3 goals quickly and then keep the pedal to the floor, that they were going to lose.

But what we got from the team was zero sense of urgency, zero sense of commitment. Too many players are ghosts just lurking around on the ice. Why is every goaltender suddenly have an epic game against us. Why do we have 40-50 shots on goal but can only score two. Something is badly broken. Something has to change. Something significant.

  11. Jordan Staal sounds clinically depressed. Point is with the Rangers you cannot make a mistake. They are disciplined opportunists. Not saying you can with the Canes, but Shesterkin makes it harder. This series is a microcosm of the season. The Rangers inched them out of first place. Same thing in this series

  12. Rangers fan here. Canes are a good team and at times, a very good team. But overall the Rangers are better and then they have Shestyorkin. They're very talented, organized, well coached and execute the game plan to a T. Sure the series could easily be 3-0 Canes if they weren't so bad on the PP. But that's the difference in the playoffs. It's all about special teams, defense and goaltending.

  13. Going into this series, after watching some of the Isles/Canes series, I felt that even though Carolina won the series they didn't exactly play their best. The Isles blew a 3 goal lead in one of them. And they could have won Game 1. The difference in that series? 5 power play goals and they are a much better team on paper relative to the Isles. However, I wasn't impressed with their series win. That being said, of course both Rangers and Canes fans likely felt more trepidation/anxiety about the other side going into this series. This was the real start of the playoffs for both sides and the Rangers are showing that it's about quality over quantity. Attention to detail. Stellar defense. Impeccable special teams. Both sides have elite numbers, but it means nothing if you can't execute when it matters. I think Carolina is an amazing team, but my NYR are the tightest group I've seen since the last Cup run AND they have more skill than that team. They have shown that they are not a fluke team and that 5 on 5 scoring isn't the most important metric when evaluating odds to win a Cup. Tampa had a very similar group with average 5 on 5 scoring during their Cup runs. I predict that the Canes take game 4 and we send them home for good in game 5. Outside of all of this, it's been incredibly entertaining hockey to watch which is why all of us live and breathe this sport. Lastly, Tony D'Angelo is a cancer and you guys should get rid of him. His best days are clearly behind him. There's a reason he's not a Ranger. Great content by your crew over there, I appreciate the analysis and honesty. LGR!

  14. “The only ‘playing well’ that matters is playing well enough to win”. PREACH brother

  15. 1- I would not have broke up the Jake/Aho/Jarvis line. Andrei gives the 2nd line punch.
2- I would have started Pyotr in game 2.
3- I would not have had Kuzy out of game 2. Max barely played in a double OT game
I am not saying any of it would have made a difference.

  16. So many ranger fans here lol, why aren't you watching your teams highlights. Go back to ny

  17. Shorthanded goal completely takes the wind out of your sails, huge momentum swing, can't give those up, period.
