Not looking good.
Canes D has not been impressive. They have given up a lot of prime scoring chances even when the Canes were playing well. Lots of odd man rushes and break aways. You do that enough times, high skilled Rangers will capitalize. Giving up 4, 4, 3 goals when you gave up on average 2.62 during the season isn't going to cut it when you can't score.

By xG the Canes are down 11.1-9.9 despite having 30% more shots. It’s a damning indictment of the Canes’ system.
It simply does not work against teams with
1) high end goaltending
2) a coach who can game plan.
This works in the regular season because no one specifically game plans to fight it. But over a 7 game series it only works against the islanders.

Goodrow, Vesey, Coullye, Laffy, Kappo all pulling on the rope together. You are going to lose and your team and its coach will be gone. Next year you need to change your game.
