It would take a miracle at this point, right? We need to basically revamp our entire blue line and I don’t see how we can do that when we have no assets or cap space. Unless the young guys step their game up by several levels in the next few seasons, I think the best we can hope for is maybe making the second round if we’re lucky. Maybe there’s some fantastic defensive coach out there who could turn things around, though.

So if Florida ends up back in the cup final does that change anyone’s opinion on this team? A top 4 defensive add and maybe we are back in the mix or do we need more?

Smart retool this offseason and it’s possible. If we repeat last offseason then it’s probably over

I’d say we should be competitive enough to make the playoffs, but this roster just isn’t deep enough to be a cup contender.
Worse than our poor depth, is our weak prospect pool. For years this organization was able to replace players that got too pricey with great prospects. Verhaeghe, Marchy, Colton all jump to mind. Without the ability to fill in these gaps we’ve shown some pretty glaring weaknesses.

With the core we have absolutely. Some adjustments on the coaching staff and a good offseason from the boys and we have a chance. Looking for Vasy to bounce back next year too. Back surgery takes more than a few months to recover from.
