It is a tough job. Being fired is not fun, Keefe will be fine. He will see the sun rise tmw, spend some quality time with the Fam, enjoy the summer and collect his pay cheque. If I was him, I would not rush back. There will be a coaching job available when he is ready. I wish him all the best.
Hire Berube. Put Marner at centre. Give him his own line. Pickup Pesce and Zadorov as free agents. Resign Domi. Find a decent backup for Woll.

Keefe had the best winning percentage of any full time coach since the Leafs changed their name in 1927. Time will tell if it was the right move. Sheldon looked relieved and confident in his video. At 43 he has a long coaching runway ahead.

For sure, they'll lose a Marner trade… but the extra cap space is value, and that would be a win for Toronto. The most important thing is to put his $ on defence, and if you can get a solid top 4 guy… awesome

Mike, it doesn’t matter if the other teams give them pennies on the dollar the cap space is more important. They can then use that cap space to sign a defenceman Brent Pesce. Trading an $11m player for another $11m player because you have too many $11m players makes no fucking sense!!!

Keefe had his baggage back in the day. I don't see Quenville's issue to be a problem In liberal Toronto.
Say marner waves his no move for a select few teams… make the deal. I don’t understand this argument of pennies on the dollar. If I have broken toy, or it just isn’t compatible with my current toys, I sell it. In this case the chances of re-signing are as close to zero as you can get. That’s ZERO pennies on the dollar. If you feel something needs to change, and you value the other pieces more, make the move. This pennies on the dollar argument needs to stop. It doesn’t always work that way. A clever mind should know that.
WOAH WOAH WOAH. if you dont think that Keefe wasnt a HUGE part of the problem you are greatly mistaken. for all the good things that keefe was, He had a terrible view of how to win in the post season. when looking at that Boston lineup, that beat the leafs, 6 or 7 of those players would not have been iced by Keefe. its so easy to just place all the blame on the 5 player that make the big bucks. #1. leafs Power Play was unbelievably awful. #2. lineup decisions. it took keefe until game 6 to put Noah gregor in the lineup. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? that guy was made for the playoffs. Marner, Nylander and mathews all on 3 separate lines ? what ? Boston didnt need to shut down anyone because the leaf coach just did the job for them. you have a team that is all in on 3 forwards but you never are gonna try putting them all on one line? It will be too easy to shut them down? that isnt happening against colorado. As good as nick robertson is he is not a 3rd line player. Then you have keefs love for Kampf and jarnkrok. these guys are so vanilla and so worthless it is funny. game 1, you pull the goalie and put Jarnkrok out? a guy with 10 goals and had only played 2 games in the last 2 months? it would have been great if Bobby McMann was able to play, but keep in mind the only reason he was on the team was the hattrick he score. before that he was just buried in the minors. The same thing keefe tried to do with Lafferty and Amadio. 2 guys who were born to be in the playoffs. sheldon keefe is a glorified OHL coach who thinks you can have 4 scoring lines and win the nhl and that hasnt happened and never will. the problem is NOT with the 5 players that make big bucks. its that they are saddle with players that are just lesser versions of them and NOT complimentary players that have the mean, nasty physical edge that they do not. until the Leafs get at least 6 forwards that strike fear in opponents when they come over the board, regardless of how many goals they score, they will never win in the playoffs.
Leafs don't "need" to replace 140pts if they can bring the goals against number down. Leafs playing 5-4 and 6-5 games

Shanny, Tavares, Keefe & Marner should all walk the plank. of course. But Matthews should also be traded…Mr 69 is the milk carton man. He is a players version of the Presidents Trophy. I don't care if he scores 500 regular season goals. It has been 8 years that Matthews has been a playoff no show. This story is way past being just old.
Keefe did what he could. Matthews and other 4 need to be dealt.
There are no more 'next moves.' This is it. They'll ask Marner to waive his no move, he'll say no, and that'll be it. They Leafs will tinker around the edges, like they've been doing for 8 years, to no avail.
