As long as we don’t draft him, I will support him

They compare him to simashev but wasn’t that a wild reach by the coyotes last year?

But why would a scouting director reveal this?…

I think it’s hard to evaluate the Russia prospects right now because I wouldn’t be surprised if the war in Ukraine gets even worse and complicates these players coming over. I think that there’s a non-zero chance that Michkov, Silayev etc. never come over. That’s obviously on the extreme end, but it’s not a normal period right now, and I would personally avoid this massive downside risk with a high pick — one of the reasons I was happy we didn’t draft Michkov last year.

    « When you compare the 2 there’s a notable difference, 3 inches »

    Bro literally said that lol.

I have yet to suspect KH isnt drafting the best player available in context of being a Montreal Canadien. Whether they reach for Iginla or draft another D, they seem to have a better idea of the type of player that will reach their potential in this city.

Every year the journalists covering the draft are trying to create a smoke screen as to who could go #1

The athletic isn’t in the draft business, it’s in the selling magazines business. They’re going to create controversy because that’s what people click on and read.

“I go back and forth on him and Celebrini a lot,”. Said one scouting director…. Bullshit. If a scouting director actually said this, why wouldn’t you print his name instead of calling him anonymous scouting director?

Why is it, every year, there is a russian player who gets his tires pumped with « he might even be better than the consensus 1OA »? or that « their draft position would have been better if they played in north america? »

It happened with michov who almost certainly is not going to be better than bedard.

I do not think cellibrini is up at night worrying about being bumped.

I’d take him or Levshunov in a heartbeat if they are available at 5 and Demidov/Lindstrom are both gone. Our defense will be scary good.

Edit: i also really like Sam Dickinson, probably one of the most nhl ready defenseman and one of the best in this draft. Will be interesting to compare them all in 5 years.

I’m a big believer in Silayev. I’d draft him above any of the forwards in the draft except for Celebrini. He’s a far better player than Simashev, heck I think Silayev now is a better player than Simashev currently is.

I’m quite certain he’ll be gone before we make our pick.
