This was in another thread, but it might not be a huge injury but something Detroit and Team USA have agreed to have him return. US would be liable to pay Detroit if the injury got worse or resulted in him being unable to finish his contract. Seems just like a precautionary deal to get him home and not risk anything else.

Poor Lyon – he said that he was really looking forward to playing. That has to be disappointing to only get two games in before heading back home. Hope that his hand is fine and it is just a precaution.
