Carson Soucy dit qu’il a déjà eu son audience et qu’il attend la décision de la LNH. Il a qualifié cela d’incident malheureux en raison du timing et a déclaré qu’il n’y avait aucune intention de rattraper McDavid en hauteur.

Kadri gets 10, rangers get fined $200,000 and the Canucks owe 10 mil in cap recapture.

  2. CamaroGirl96

I kind of thought the players were told over the phone when they have the hearing what the punishment will be. Wonder how long we will have to wait.

  3. My_boy_baron

Of course because anyone with eyes could see that…well except Craig Button and Jeff Marek.

Soucy is not a dirty player, this is totally out of character for him. I’m sure that will go into consideration. Had the crosscheck hit his upper chest like anticipated, this would be a non issue. Had McDavid not slashed him, he wouldn’t have retaliated.

McDavid is fine, so I’m saying there will be no suspension.

And the oilers fans will go NUUUUUTS!!!

  5. NerdPunch

It’s interesting, because Zadorov deserves a suspension more than Soucy does (even though it’s Soucy’s stick).

And I am sure if you asked Edmonton fans they’d rather have Zadorov out of the lineup compared to Soucy.

As long as it’s 1 game or less I got no beef with the league. If it’s 1+ games, thats nonsense.

  6. Chipmunk-Adventurous

I know we are all huge homers here, but honestly, do people really think Soucy intentionally cross-checked the greatest player alive in the face while in plain view of the referees and cameras?

  7. nelsonmuntzz

They sure are taking their sweet ass time… There’s a game in about 24 hours.

  8. nukfan94

All other details aside, intent shouldn’t matter. You are responsible for your stick. I do still find this to be an interesting threshold for the DoPS to suddenly give a shit, but lack of intent does not absolve one from suplemental discipline.

quick edit: intent *should* matter in that it can influence the severity of punishment.

Theres a universe where this is all just a PR tactic to make the pissed off Edmontonian media and organizational personnel think the NHL is doing their due diligence in protecting Mcdavid and this all just results in a fine.

I pray we can be in that universe just this once.

DOPS is as incompetent of a bunch as the rest of NHL officiating. It is what it is. Next man up mentality, let’s go nucks

How McDavid just gets away with the 2 handed chop after the game on a non hockey play is mind boggling.

I think what you could formulate an argument for is either: nothing for all 3, fines for all 3, or fines for Zadorov and McDavid and a game for Sousy.

I don’t even understand how you could even justify only punishing 2 of the 3.

Also after watching the clip again it looks like the person with most intent to injure anyone was Zach Hyman who bum rushed in the scrum after the fact with his stick at head height.

Juulsen is gonna blow someone up in the first 5 mins of game 4 and oilers fans are gonna regret asking for a Soucy suspension

  13. brianevans88

Wow…. lol. no. Absolutely not. Zadorov doesn’t DESERVE a suspension. Neither one does.

  14. vision604

This is actually good, because it means they are actually listening to what he said and making a decision thereafter.

I think it was the leafs (Morgan Reilly?) recently where they gave the ruling on the spot. In that case it makes it seem far more predetermined, as in what he said didn’t matter.

  15. RepresentativeBarber

What’s unfortunate is McJesus not even getting a penalty when he drew blood on Huggy.

  16. Watch them not give us the ruling until half an hour till puck drop.

  17. outofnowhere1010

I have no problem him getting suspended 1 game . However I do have a problem with no fines or hearing for the spear to the nuts of Hogs and 2 slew foots by Kane in game 2. Absolutely zero consistency. It’s been made a big deal because it’s McDavid. They are saying it’s because it was after the game was over . Well so was the baseball swing chop by McDavid to start it all off.

  18. yosoyboi2

I’m an oilers fan and this is such a stupid move by the DPoS.
Of all the things they could have given supplementary discipline for so far in the first 3 games and this is where they draw the line?

  19. CamaroGirl96

No word yet on the punishment. But Soucy also said today that he apologized to McDavid on the ice before they all went to their respective locker rooms.

  20. grooverocker

Soucy is an innocent man! A man should be able to retailiate against shitbird aggression from the leagues biggest crybaby!

Hunger strike inbound unless my boy Soucy is acquitted of all charges!

  21. metrichustle

Soucy wasn’t trying to cross check him in the head. You don’t need analysts to figure that out. 1 game wouldn’t be fair for Canucks.

  22. Loud_Examination_138

Thank goodness for Dan Murphy posting that, since we all know the national media is all up mcdavid and the oilers ass and wouldn’t post anything shady the oilers are doing. Screw them

  23. Lorenzo56

Can someone explain to me why Quinn Hughes takes a stick to the face, is bleeding, and there is no penalty?

  24. Charming_Implement_1

    End result…one game…could be a lot worse

  25. aristhought

Soucy during the hearing: Did you watch the video? Are you stupid?

    DoPS: 5 games for misconduct

  26. Fluid-Use3726

That cross check to Zadorov’s face was arguably worse than the McDavid one. If he actually needed stitches and Hyman gets off scott free then the NHL is f’n bush league. No justice

  27. dattroll123

meanwhile, the league admits to initially not seeing the other angle on the bennett sucker punch, saw that replay, and still kept the ruling that it’s just a hockey play.

  28. He’s getting 1 game. Question is whether those idiots give him 2 or 3.

  29. MacVanRainin

If he gets suspended, then this series is ratcheting up a violence level me thinks. That will make blood boil…
