@Maple Leafs de Toronto

[Fox] Audition Gerard Gallant n’a pas encore passé d’entrevue pour le poste d’entraîneur des Maple Leafs. Il a hâte de revenir dans la LNH.

Better than some of the other names I’ve seen

  2. TheLoomingMoon

I’m thinking the search is over and the leafs are just not releasing the news.

Can we stop with these b-listers. We need to get Bettman on the phone for reinstatement and give the job to Joel Quenneville. Let’s just get it done.

I’ll wheel this back a bit. Gallant is infinitely better than a lot of other names I’ve seen thrown around.

Can someone learn me why I’m wrong about preferring Gallant over Berube

  5. Boston_McMatthews

Was gallant the guy who got fired and Grapes was pissed about how Florida went about it?

  6. drow_enjoyer

I just have major fucking anxiety over seeing McLellan on a flight from LAX to YYZ. Anyone but him please.

As a Rangers fan let me tell ya you do not want this dude. Unless you are solely looking to be a team based on “vibes”. Dude barely ran a legit practice during his two years in New York.

  8. PleasFlyAgain_PLTR

Are the options only Berube, Gallant, McLellan and fucking Q?? These are all meh hire at best. I guess I can’t name a better option but still leaves me feeling underwhelmed.

I can’t believe they wouldn’t have had something good lined up before firing Keefe

While we’re at it, I’d like to announce I have also not yet interviewed for the Maple Leafs coaching job.

Rangers fan here if anyone has questions about Gallant. I’ll do my best to be objective about his strengths and weaknesses.

Would love Gallant behind the bench

They will probably interview at least 5 people, Berube obviously, McLellan, maybe Gallant at some point and 2 more at least.

I think it’s a good idea from the Leafs’ perspective to do a bunch of interviews even if they don’t intend on hiring the person. A process like this where you’re talking to a bunch of people in hockey is a good way to get feedback on your own organization and hear other people’s thoughts on it.

It’s still weird to me our head office looked at Gallant and DeBoer and said “DeBoer must be better!” after what Gallant did with complete misfits. Gallant is a great coach. And you guys already have his boy Reavo.

Dude got the first year knights all the way to the cup finals. Like… that wasn’t a terrible team(obviously), but that’s a huge achievement for a bunch of guys who’ve never played together

  16. ApeManMemeStonker

IF the Leafs cant get Rod Brindamour then Gallant can be one of 4 or 5 options sure. Definitley not Plan A or B though so not shocked that right now he hasnt interviewed. Why is the media even doing this? Always need content and answers, like let the playoffs finish Luke jfc……

I do worry that the room won’t respect Berube since his playing career was very lackluster.

All this talk about how Coach Q should be considered is ridiculous, let’s be honest it’s not gonna happen. Q made his bed and the NHL isn’t getting back together with him.

    – Look, Coach Q is an amazing coach, great record with hardware. If anyone says different than they’re judging him solely on his involvement in the sexual assault matter. If the assault never happened and he was available he’d be signed likely to the richest nhl coaching contract ever. I could see the Leafs asking if he’s available solely based on his COACHING history but without having any intent in actually offering him a contract.
    – He helped cover up a sexual assault on one of his players. His professionalism would always be called into question. Leaf media would have a field day all season long if he was hired and it would be a huge distraction on the ice.
    – He wouldn’t have the same level of trust from his players that he’s had in the past so I doubt he gets the same results he has had in the past.

I wouldn’t be upset about Gallant coming in. The guys should at least be interviewed if they don’t already have their guy.

Everyone get ready for this team to go back to the basement.

Treliving will dismantle the team, as he usually does. I’ve got no faith in him.

  21. blickman

You could infer from the headline that Gallant hasn’t interviewed with Toronto because he doesn’t think they’re an MHL team.
