Surprised this hadn’t been posted yet. Kyle Okposo got interviewed and had this to say about his season in Buffalo. The captain knew in *October* that something wasn’t right.

A decent head coach

Good thing we were blessed with such a quality captain 🥴

GM, Coach, and players all took the off-season to bask in the “glory” of the 22-23 season and it killed them. They righted the ship sure but that early season killed them.

We’re all trying to figure out who did this!

He really needed to be gone in the offseason

What an idiot, f okposo

Incidentally, what are Okie’s point totals these playoffs…?

Fair take.

Literally was saying this mid season and everybody in this sub told me I was wrong. Being a fan doesn’t mean I’m delirious to the obvious. End of the season did look promising though until they ruined Byram

Glad he got a chance somewhere else. By his own admission he didn’t have the answer so now is the time to be rid of any other “veteran leadership, fabric of the team, blah blah” that didnt and doesn’t have the answer either.
Changing the coach was a start. Find new vet leadership.

ROR. Eichel. Mitts. Ox. Same comments over and over again. Maybe, just maybe, there actually IS an organizational problem that starts higher up than the physical players on the ice.

Are we going to say he was a locker room cancer too? I do always look forward to how our goldfish memory blocks out how many former players of ours say this on the way out or shortly thereafter. Watching how many of them find near-immediate success after leaving, I feel like any reasonable fan has to pause before shitting on the guy that left. Maybe—just maybe—there’s something else going on.

I mean it was quite literally the exact same roster. The mistake was entrusting dead weight on the team like you to progress us

Yeah no shit. All the goaltenders were sub .900 till January.

He’s not wrong, everything he said is 100% true

This will just lead to another “players that want to be here” speech from Adams to go with nostalgic hire and more kids on the ice because no descent veterans want to play here. Then we can be surprised when they don’t make the playoffs again next season.

Damn he should’ve tried speaking to the captain about it to right the ship

I really feel like Okposo got off easy for the lack of professionalism on the team. He was supposed to be the guy who motivates others and, instead, he’s planning his exit one month into the season. F him.
