I liked zucker over smith. It would have been interesting to see bunting-malkin-zucker
will be celebrating once he's gone…one of the three biggest reasons we missed the playoffs (Smith, Graves, Todd R)
Smith was a bust. I thought maybe he had the Stanley Cup hangover but he was actually most productive the first part of the season.
Geno loved Zucker and Zucker came to fight for Geno every single game.

With Edmonton starting Pickard tonight, it shows they are not sold on their goaltenders and if they dont get to the finals, they may be a good trade partner for Jarry in the off season. He played for the Oil Kings from 2011-2015.
I made a few armchair GM posts on cap friendly sending smith to buffalo for the same reasons you stated and for some reason buffalo fans hate him
Hopefully they'll get a 3rd back or a better fitting player for Smith. If unable to trade Graves hopefully he can have a more productive year
Trade Reilly Smith to the Avs for Valeri Nichushkin. Kevin Stevens can watch over VN. Kevin Stevens and VN are both big power wingers. Hire Kevin Stevens so he can keep VN on the straight and narrow as an 82 game big brother. Trade Reilly Smith to the Bruins for UFA Jake Debrusk.
