  1. I’m glad the Avs at least went down fighting.

This is for all the dallass fans that came to troll last night and today

  3. 6 games, in three of them the Avs scored 1 goal. Can’t win like that. Bednar needs to be able to adapt more and the players need to buy in better.

One the positive side, Georgiev gave them a chance to win in each game. Really happy with a Georgiev-Annunen tandem going into next year.

Never want to see Val suit up in an Avalanche sweater again.

Ok now we go into one of our biggest offseasons, we sign drouin and mitts to whatever they want and maybe trenin, we let walker go because he was dog shit in the playoffs we buy out Nuke whenever we can and sign the biggest top 6 forward in FA

Interesting that last summer our pressing need was a serviceable 2C; Nashville dumped us Johansen and bought out Duchene. One was clearly better than the other (and a lower cap hit).

I only wonder if the Avs (and fans) were on better terms with him he would’ve signed with us and we wouldn’t have had to trade Byram, nor see Matt knock us out of the playoffs on home ice.

After all the spite he’s received by certain Avs fans, I’m happy for him to be the one to knock us out. He left on bad terms and we never forgave him for it – not what he deserved after the years of commitment he gave us. So much good all the boos and bitterness did us.

The team needs some serious depth. Feels like we were running on fumes against Dallas and rightfully lost. I’m just glad we won the cup in 22, otherwise these last couple of years would’ve been very frustrating. Also, why can’t Bednar figure out Dallas?

Fuck you Nichushkin, you fucked up your team for the second year in a row. That’s not the only reason the Avs lost the series, but that distraction really weighed on the team. This is going to be a tough offseason.

Had to break it to my kids this morning that we lost. Duhaime is my daughter’s favorite player (he has tossed her 3 pucks) and I can’t bear to also hit her with the news that he might not be an Av next year. She has his jersey on the way. I so hope we re-sign him.

I’m proud of the way they were able to get their game back after Choo screwed us. A lot of players really stepped up and showed their potential.

I am really disappointed in Nate though. I get that he was shut down defensively and that isn’t on him. But he was not a team player last night and for most of the series. It seemed like once he recognized they had his game beat, he just became obsessed with proving he could overcome it himself. It was clear he was frustrated and would lose the puck or let plays die by holding onto it too long. He was probably the only player last night that wasn’t digging deep in the forecheck or putting the body on. Just lingered outside hoping for an opportunity to show he’s still got those hands. That’s not just aggravating because of the missed opportunities but because he’s a top alternate captain. He should’ve been stepping up in Landy’s absence and leading the team by example. We didn’t get that. Instead, we got what could best be described as a bratty attitude. Once he felt like the series was over, he was no longer giving his all.

It’s not all on him. I think Bednar dropped the ball on adapting to the Stars handling of Nate and finding a way to keep him useful. Their style of play with Nate on the ice was overall constant.

Above all else, I’m still grateful for the team and their efforts. They were dealt a terrible hand between Landy and the Choo incident. I’m happy they didn’t throw in the towel when most other teams would’ve. In a perfect world, Parise would squeeze out one more year so we could get him that cup. I’m eager to see what changes they make in the offseason.

Even though we lost, Georgie gave us a hell of a chance. It was probably his best game for us ever. Every time the Stars shot the puck you just knew he was going to block it.

Nuke letting the team down, yet again, was a huge blow, but we also really missed LOC out there. Our PK struggled after he go injured, and his relentless forechecking would have been a big boost against this Dallas team.

Woke up today like I have a test to take, knowing that now we really have to deal with the ramifications of Val’s situation…

This one was tough because our top end talent is better than the Stars, but they have more depth. Making a deep run usually you have to get kind of lucky with getting good more value out of some players than their contracts would suggest. In 22 Nate was making $6.3M, Kadri 4.5M, Val $2.5M which allowed us the depth that aided our run. Dallas has some guys on really good contracts (Johnson, Harley, Stankoven) that produced well too.

I don’t begrudge our guys for getting paid but looking at our roster it’s going to be hard to improve much more with the top players’ contracts that we have. I think the front office has a really tough job with that, and they’re not always gonna get it right (see: Johansen) but I appreciate their willingness to roll the dice. The positive side is with our core we’ll always have a chance, this time we just couldn’t get it done. We had 5 years between the first two Cup wins, I think the window’s still open here. Gonna be a long few months until the season starts though!

Going 0-fer at home against a rival in the playoffs *SUCKS*, especially as the best home team in the league, but it’s kinda not surprising. While the situations surrounding their unavailability could not be more different, Nichushkin and Landeskog are huge losses for this team and I feel we saw that in Game 6. Without a big presence down low on offense, much of team’s shots either were blocked or came in clean for Oettinger. I love his game but Lehkonen is simply too small to fill that role.

Give credit to Dallas, though. That is a deep, disciplined, committed hockey team, and in the end they proved they were better, tougher, more resilient than what this Colorado team could put out.

    Is it October yet? lol

But generally curious how our offseason is going to go. I don’t know what our cap looks like with the whole Val situation, so someone might have to explain that. We obviously will sign Mittens because of the Bo trade and I’m glad we are cause he will be very good next season. I really hope we can find a way to resign Drouin but again, idk what our cap looks like and hope he can persuaded to be on a team friendly deal, wouldn’t blame him if he doesn’t take it.

I love Mikko, but I feel like he definitely had some type of injuries in those playoffs and hope he can get that sorted out for next season because people forgot how good he is and I know he is capable of much more.

Don’t know if Landy will come back, but very interested to see if he doesn’t, what will he do? also LOC will be back and boy did we really miss him. Roaring 20s line will be awesome to watch

As for the fourth liners, I wouldn’t mind bringing back kivi and Duhaime and COGS if he doesn’t retire. If we sign Sean to a pretty cheap deal, I wouldn’t mind bringing him back.

Lastly, what to do with goaltending. Georgie was awesome in this series, but will he stay or will the front office try to find a replacement. That’s probably the story line I’m most interested in.

  16. mitch-dubz

I still think the Avs need an upgrade in net. Hopefully they can terminate Vals contract. Cogs should probably retire, maybe get a job in Avs front office. JJ should retire too. Resign Mitts obviously. Resign Trenin because that dude is awesome. Not really sure what to do with Duhaime. Let Walker walk… They cant waste another year in the Cup window being loyal to players. Help Mack!

  17. blondespikes22

Proud of the fight the team showed in games 5 and 6

Can’t take nights off especially in the playoffs, I get once in a while you’re due for a bad game as every team is (ie: game 2)
But we set our selves up for failure by being no shows in game 4
