I don’t think he needs to be in every game, but Aves is absolutely right in that he can and should be utilized to set the tone in the garden at some point in the series
I honestly think they should start Rempe the first game, it being at the Garden at all, but I also understand why they probably won’t. I just hope we haven’t seen the last of him in these playoffs.
Idk why I haven’t thought of this before, but Avery should be on the TnT broadcast with Biz. Would be some electric banter.

Round 2 – Carolina was too fast for him and he was exploited a little bit.

One thing I’m going to say about Rempe is former players LOVE him. Messier Boyle Avery all of them talk about him like when he is in the lineup he’s being underutilized and Laviolette should trust him enough to play him in the 3rd period. If Laviolette felt the same way about Rempe maybe I’d agree he should be in the lineup (idk who he’d play over though) but that is not the case and Laviolette doesn’t trust Rempe to play in the third period of a close game. Maybe next year but for now I think he should be in the press box unless we need him as a reaction to how Florida is playing in the series
Rempe wears teams out. He’s exhausting to play against. Getting hit, getting off the ice…it’s a tiresome endeavor. There’s a place for a guy that can do that. Especially if the opponent has faster skaters…it slows them down.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, chytil will play scared hockey and is one hit away from a career ending head injury. Florida is just that team to do that. It’s crazy to insert him when he was not in the plans all season and the team got this far without him. Rempe and his 5 minutes a game is the answer. His presence on the bench alone is a benefit.
I’d sit half of our forwards for prime Avery in this series

He makes everyone look over their shoulder going in to the corner or the boards. He makes people think twice about putting their head down. And he lights up the garden.
There may be right and wrong times to put him in the lineup, but he’s a physical factor that is undeniable against a team like the Panthers.
Honestly, save Chytil for the finals. No team that’s left in the playoffs is a dirtier team than Florida, and I just know Sam Bennett is waiting to end his career. Start Rempe in games 1 and 2, if things don’t go well, bring in Chytil.
I don’t know why the hockey community on Reddit has such trouble accepting that intimidating and, yes, injuring the other teams players is and has always been a valid and winning strategy in NHL playoff hockey. Why is Marchand the only one with enough balls to say this out loud.
Always good to have a wild card up your sleeve and probably better to deploy that wildcard sporadically. Just enough to fuck up the other teams flow

I loved Avery when he was on the Rangers, even through all the bullshit. He was an elite pest with an above average touch of skill. After he retired, he faded from my consciousness, other than the few blurbs that would pop up about his fashion career. Then I started working downtown by his old bar and he’d pop into my head every now and then. Basically, I was over Avery.
The fact that he still calls Broduer Fatso in this video has made him a god to me.

Rempe needs to start when we are home, if the Rangers don’t come out hard and square up with the Panthers , they will bully us all series …I would love for his first shift to take a clean run at Bennett and goad him into instigating.

I hate Sean Avery with every fiber of my being and I’m not shy about it… But I agree with him here.
Florida hits to hurt. You have to counter that. Rempe is part of that. Cullye and Goodrow can play that game. Trouba can play that game. But our star players don’t. I’m a Neanderthal, but I’d like to see forward lines with the guys above riding shotgun. Cause Florida is gonna look for that opportunity, and you’re not gonna win with the power play if all of your skill guys are hurt. I’m sure the coaches know that, but I sure hope they have a plan to counter Florida’s attrition game.
I am absolutely not on the Rempe bandwagon but there’s no denying some of Avery’s points. And I guess if we’re gonna dress him I’d do it game one, be proactive instead of reactive. Plus if he plays smart he could def draw a penalty instead of taking one.

Ive been saying this since Florida clinched…rempe needs to be on the ice the first time Bennett is on the ice and he needs to “hurt” him as Marchand was so open about. A message needs to be sent, their dirty style of hockey will not go unpunished. It’s gonna be wild. Igor is our difference maker and their physicality is theirs. If we can neutralize theirs, I like our chances.
The problem is who’s spot is rempe taking in the lineup? If Chytil is healthy he 100% needs to play.
I’m fine with starting rempe for a game or two.
But the panthers top guys are also goons. We need kreider miller lindy trouba all laying hits.
Off topic but my favorite Avery moment was when Brodeur made fun of him for being on Dancing With the Stars and Avery humble-bragged on Twitter that he woke up next to a supermodel to hear Fatso made a comment, and he poked Brodeur for his affair.
