No Blue Jackets fan will ever forget FJC was on the team.
There are people who post here who act like Columbus is the biggest joke in the NHL. Really? Okay, 18 years and one trip to the 2nd round. But c'mon. New York Rangers 54 years without a cup. Toronto 53 years and no cup. St. Louis just ended a 52 year run. Buffalo and Vancouver- 50 years each and no cup. Atlanta has failed twice as an NHL city. Columbus was awarded the Blue Jackets based on the success of the Columbus Chill of the ECHL. The Chill sold out a horrible 5,500 seat arena for 8 years and the NHL saw Columbus as a good hockey market. The league had to decide between the McConnell's (the current owners who are tied to Nationwide Insurance) or the Lamar Hunt family (owners of the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL). The NHL chose the McConnell's because they were local ownership whom the league believed would keep them in Columbus. The perception of the Hunt's was they would find a reason to move them to Kansas City.
Ray Whitney? David Vyborny? RJ Umberger? Nik Zheredev? Antoine Vermette?
David Vyborny was an underrated player
Zach Werenski is another great defenseman.
FJC
Big logos are always hilarious. Still say best player is Rick Nash but it's a short history for a fairly new franchise.
Cats are still grooming, we will survive.
Jeff Carter had a really bad attitude when he was in Columbus
THG "Columbus has had that goalie of the future problem for a while…"
Elvis has left the chat.
CBJ! CBJ! CBJ!
He was a Blue Jacket?
Darryl Sydor
Francois Beauchemin
1. Seth Jones
2. Artemi Panarin
3. Sergei Bobrovsky
4. Rick Nash
5. Zack Werenski
6. Pierre-Luc Dubois
7. Cam Atkinson
8. Jakub Voracek
9. Ray Whitney
10. Nikolai Zherdev
Fuck Jeff Carter.
Thank you Shannon
Anyone who thinks Nash wasn’t as talented as Pinarin never saw Nash play those years in Columbus. He was nothing short of dominant on an otherwise lousy team.
Fun Fact-During the Jackets current playoff stints, Seth Jones has been the on-ice time leader in most of the games played during the season. Second, if the NHL restarts this season, nearly all the players who were out with injury would be healthy and (hopefully) ready to return. The atmosphere in Nationwide Arena on game nights is one of the finest in the NHL…I worked the 2016-17 home season there on Club Level. @The Hockey Guy, this was a great list and thank you! #CBJ!
GO BLUE JACKETS!!!!!!!!!!
As a Jacket follower, I doubt they would have made the playoffs this year. They were a beat-up team that had fallen out of a playoff position and therefore likely would not have been able to lift themselves up a notch or two in the last 8 or 10 games to make the playoffs. Jeff Carter… Jeff Carter basically cried and weeped himself out of Columbus and on to Los Angeles. If there were a "most despised" category, Carter should win it in Columbus.
I realize this is Best of list…but ill list my 3 favs, since I haven’t seen Fav ofAll CBJ…3. Rick Nash – mainly because he provided goals n highlight reels, when thru most of his career, he was thee Only goal scorer in CBJ…2. Scott Hartnell …well cause he’s Scott Hartnell, god love him…1. Matt Calvert or better known in CBJ as MattyIce…Matty wasn’t the fastest, strongest, most agile, best scorer, best skater, fighter, toughest…But what MattyIce Was, was one of the most complete hockey skaters, most fiercest competitor, one of the Only skaters I’ve seen thru all his career, give his team “60” minutes of his Best…every game from 00:01 thru 60+. I’ve never seen a hockey skater of his size fight and out hustle around the boards…His tv n interview persona was just as energized as his play on the ice…ive said, and I’m not…If I was a NHL hockey starter for 8+ seasons, I would be very proud and accomplished as a player to have paralleled Matt Calvert’s….the Best to Ya…MattyIce and Thank You for 8 yrs in CBJ !
No mention of 16 game winning streak. Think there should have been a most important event/record for team.
It’s funny when other people forget people like Carter, Gaborik, Hartnell were on the team but when you are a jackets fan for years, you remember those guys because they were a “star” of the team even if it was short period.
Werenski, Jones, and Dubois most likely to be on the list. One guy likely not there is David Savard, franchise leader in blocked shots and deked out Hedman in the 2019 playoffs.
Most CBJ fans don't like to talk about Foote or Jeff Carter. Bad taste in the mouth in how they left.
One thing that hurts the jackets is whenever a big name player comes here, they always want to leave and they don’t try.
My All Time Blue Jackets Lineup:
Goal: Sergei Bobrovsky
Defense: Seth Jones – Fedor Tyutin
Forwards: Artemi Panarin – Nick Foligno – Rick Nash
COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS IN THE HOCKEY HALL OF FAME
01. 2015: Sergei Fedorov
For Detroit fans congrats…you win
as a columbus fan… not a lot to say about the history. basically the last few years + rick nash. I think Jones+ Werenski could be a hall of fame duo for years to come, and the young goalies look very promising. We'll see
He was a jacket? also Vinny Prospal… That team was a tie breaker away from making the playoffs in the shortened season after finishing some crazy streak like 18-2-3 or something (I dont know the exact numbers, I might be exaggerating a bit, im not sure. Sure felt like it). Which sadly for us, was a big deal. Vinny reportedly had a deal to stay with the front office in Columbus after retirement, but Scott Howson soon got housed, but that agreement didnt carry over with Jarmo
2005/06 nhl season columbus full game, anywhere?)
Rick Nash for sure
