Is there a consensus ranking which countries leagues are best in terms of quality? I sort of assumed it went NHL, KHL, Sweden or Switzerland but no idea after that or if that is even the ranking others have.

I never understood why Poland has never taken sports seriously. I imagine the funding is abysmal across the board there. How else to explain a country nearly equal in population to Canada and surrounded by countries that have historically had well performing athletes, yet bring so little to the international table. Aside from a couple individual sports (ski jumping, women’s tennis) and a recent star soccer/football player, I can’t recall any competitive teams in my lifetime.
