If he can turnover half the roster (again, lol) and still be a competitive team, he’s gonna be a finalist next year as well I’d imagine.
It’s so nice having a management team you can trust. Man, imagine where we’d be if we fired Benning like 2-3 years earlier

Best moves this past season:
– Signing UFAs in Soucy, Cole, Suter, Blueger to revamp the defense and bottom 6
– Traded for Sam Lafferty to solidify the 4th line.
– Traded Anthony Beauvillier to Chicago for a draft pick to gain cap-space. Then used this cap space to acquire Nikita Zadorov from Calgary to bolster the blueline.
– Acquiring Elias Lindholm at the All-Star break to be ahead of the Trade Deadline. He became exactly what we hoped for once he came back from injury and was a beast for us in the playoffs.
– Signing Elias Pettersson to an 8-year extension.
I have faith with him to properly navigate us through this off-season where many important and difficult decisions will be made.
It’s a good sign he’s getting this type of recognition from his colleagues, they know he’s been the most active GM since that Hronek trade.
And when the OEL buyout happened Friedman talked about other organizations looking at Allvin and Rutherford thinking it was a real ballsy move and admired they got ownership to support a 20M buyout.
It took some time, but Rutherford & Allvin won this market over after taking a lot of heat in this market.
In their defence, they didn’t exactly inherit a lot of goodwill from the last GM and Smyl left them in a tough spot… (I kid)
Kudos to the front office, they were essentially the only people who believed they could turn this team around… and they did.
And their impacts go so far beyond just what we see on the ice.
