@Maple Leafs de Toronto

We should bring them both back. Love what they bring to the team

  2. Quiet_Nectariney

Loved Bert and Domi, but we’re in no position to give either of the over 5 per, especially with 5+ term

  3. erinsfone

I love Domi but $5M-6M per year is a bit too much for my liking

  4. trillestBill

Both of you sign a 4×5 and you get an extra mill signing bonus for each round past the first

  5. carletondabare

5×5 for Domi would be a disaster

  6. thisisdu

Domi is basically gone if that’s what he wants. They’re basically taking Marner’s cap if we can move him and we’ll basically be running it back next season without Marner.

  7. thewolfshead

Lots of talk of “wait for the playoffs” with Bertuzzi and he didn’t do much.

  8. nuleaph

please no bert. He did terrible in the playoffs. Not worth the price at 5? mill or whatever. 2? 3? ok, but not 5.

  9. NotTheStateB

I love Domi but he can get fucked if he wants 5 × 6m lmao

  10. C4D3NZA

trading marner’s $11m is useless if you bring back Domi and Bert at 5 each. I’d actually rather keep marner

  11. Chtholly13

Domi probably took a discount on his last contract to fit him in, although 5-6 million is pushing it. He scored 9 goals this year, that can’t be shoved aside.

  12. 3X-Leveraged

I’d be interested in bringing them both back if the price is right.

I’m curious to see how they would do under a new coach and they picked things up in the second half of the year.

How the fuck does Domi go from $3M for one year to $5-$6M for five years?? He had fifty six points in eighty games last year, forty seven in eighty this year. How is he getting a $2-$3M pay raise plus five years for putting up less points than the previous season, on a better team too.

  14. Tarquin11

I just don’t think Bert is cutting it in Toronto, full stop.

  15. JFMoldau

    Neither of them are must-haves.

Domi is the more valuable of the two but I hate the asking price and term.

I’d laugh in Bert’s face asking for more than 4 mil a year given how he performed.

  16. badboystwo

Domi had 9 goals……9…….theres no defending paying 5-6 million for 5-6 years for that. Insane.

  17. LtColumbo93

I like Domi but if I’m being honest he’s a bit one dimensional to be throwing so much money at.

He was forced into a top line role due to circumstance but really that shouldn’t be his role. He’s a great passer and has a bit of speed but that’s kind of it.

His salary last year was great for what he is.

  18. Hoardzunit

The most I would give him is 4.5 for 4 years. I love him but he’s not anywhere near that kind of $6 million dollar player.

  19. IAmTheBredman

Neither of them should get between 5 and 6 mil. If domi gets 6 years it’s gotta be around 4 or less. He had 9 goals and 47 points. Bert had a great couple months at the end of the year getting up to 21 goals, but still only had 43 points. They both bring other things to the table, but that’s not enough for those numbers

  20. Bert is too much of a gamble at the money he will command.

Domi is the one I would be interested in, if the money and/or term align, especially if we’re talking about moving Marner out.

  21. crushade

When I first saw the 5-6 million estimation for Domi, I thought that’s a bit high.

Having said that, Domi was really effective with Matthews and if we move Marner, we need to replace his offensive hole somehow.

I think Domi can fill in nicely there as long as it’s not over 5 million. It makes sense *if* we can get Domi at over 60 points playing with Matthews the whole year (though he’s only done this once in his career). Domi only began playing with Matthews later in the year and his points went up quite a bit.

If they want term, the AAV comes down. They wanna get paid, they don’t get term or they can walk.

  23. TheGreatJizzo

Domi at $3-4 million AAV is something you do given he can slot in at center. Above that? Probably not a huge

Bert isn’t needed. Knies, McMann, Robertson, Dewar, and Holmberg are NHL caliber forwards, with all but Robertson being usable penalty killers. And if you sign Domi, you are likely playing one of Domi, Nylander, or JT at LW. And you also have Cowan and Miten who may get a look at LW as well this season.

Re-signing Bert would be a bad use of cap space that should be used on the back end.

  24. cipher7777

Anything around 3-4M for Domi is good for me.

I’m not a huge fan of Bertuzzi as his disastrous skating and poor finishing is difficult to watch. There are other players, many cheaper, who can provide the ability to go to the dirty areas of the ice if that’s what we’re looking for.

  25. toedragrelease

5-6 for Domi?? Uhhhh.. love the guy… but uhhh-

  26. McJoe77

There’s no chance I’m giving Domi term AND dollars. That’s insane. He’s been on 7 teams in 9 seasons for a reason and it’s because he’s a weird fit in most teams. I like the idea of bringing him back but he’s a weird fit. Hes not a good 3C because he’s bad defensively and he doesn’t seem to make sense as the best player on any line that he’s on so he has to be with the right talent. But at the same time, he’s super inconsistent and tends to become disengaged on the wing. If somebody else wants to give him 5-6 million a year, I’d let him walk, but no one is going to give him that. They should offer him term and security but less dollars, like in the high 2s – low 3s for 6 or 7 years.

It also probably means something that the only one of his contracts that was actually at 5 million or more was in Columbus. Clearly Lebrun is talking to Domi’s agent alone. Although take this news and then sign a contract at 3 million x 6 years and he’s got instant love from the fans.

  27. Shoelesshobos

Domi has been a guy on these short term deals most of his career so if he was willing to take a good pay cut from the 5m/yr or w/e is being floated for more term i would consider it.

  28. power_of_funk

I’d give Domi a Nick Paul-like contrat but 5M long term is a hard NO for me.

  29. MarketingOwn3547

4×4 seems reasonable for Domi at the upper end IMO but I’d honestly let Bert walk. I don’t think he made enough of an impact to resign on a multi-year deal.

5×6 for Domi seems absolutely crazy to me. We’ll see how much he wants to remain a maple leaf.

  30. Flatoftheblade

I definitely want Domi back, $5-$6mil for 5-6 years is way too much though.

The sentimental side of me loved Domi and Bert’s toothless goon duo off-ice chemistry together, but the rational side of me wants to let Bert walk because I wasn’t impressed with him on the ice.

  31. BlueHotCoconut

Domi was unwanted by most teams in the league, including all of his former teams. I like him for a discount but where does $5M+ for 5-6 years come from? Terrible deal.

  32. Cyrakhis

5-6 for Domi is too much at this stage in his career. He’s fun, but he’s a defensive liability at the best of times. We can’t be overpaying one-dimensional players with our cap construction =

Bert is gonna get 7mil+ from some team that thinks they can fix his wonky back.

  33. merp_mcderp9459

Domi’s taken one too many to the head if he thinks he’s a $5m player
