  1. If you take the total budget for expiring defensemen and redistribute it you may be able to keep them all.

    Myers 6 becomes 3.2
    Zadorov 3.75 becomes 5.2
    Hronek 4.4 becomes 7
    Cole 3 becomes 2.2

Okay, its over 450k, but you get my point

  2. If I was a pro athlete I wouldn’t take kindly to unathletic dorks asking stupid questions especially when you answer them clearly and bluntly. Jpat took it personally – not everyone cares enough to play nice with the stupid repetitive questions. Half of the questions Jpat asks start with “How disappointing is…”

  3. I’m still not happy with the total change in the team’s style after the all star game. And I’m still not totally buying the Pettersson injury hope it’s just me being paranoid because I WANT him to be good. What I’m also not happy with is Alvin’s tendency to way over pay for trades. Every single trade was really good for the other team in the exchange. You know Calgary got better you know Detroit got better and we did get a bit better but those two guys are both rentals even if that wasn’t the actual goal with those trades. Podkolzin needs to go while there’s still some value there.

  4. Also they should definitely go with the three deep centre set up. Wingers can be found and made centres less so.

PS don’t draft Russians in the first round unless they are obvious world beaters and let’s face it Podkolzin was never that he was always a project and Canucks were not in position to take risks with how poor they were over the last 10 years.

  5. JPat is not being totally honest or accurate about the exchange with Hronek. He gave an answer about the production dip, said if he knew why he'd have changed something. JPat went back the injury with a "yes/no" question. Hronek paused and answered "no". JPat didn't like the one word response he set up with his question and ramped it up right there with an agitated "WE gave you space all season…we're just trying to get answers". Hronek's English isn't great, he isn't articulate (probably a language thing), and he's not comfortable with the media. For JPat to think Hronek was going to change his stripes was his first mistake. Second one, allowing his emotions to take over. Not his best moment as a reporter.

  6. Paterson you showed you were the azzhat not Hronek, and why your not a credible media person.

  7. Sure, the 8X8 that Hronek wants and can get on the open market is too rich, but trading him one year after giving up two high draft picks makes no sense. Who will replace him? Tyler Myers? Think about it.

  8. Petey was on a helicopter line for too much of this past season and he managed to produce until injury slowed him down. I'm sure he's going to come back strong. Here's hoping he gets some decent linemates.

  9. the pissy comment to drysitail in edm was way better Notice demko said to lindholm when asked about contract " be specific " that was fkn funny pretty much explains canadain media in a nut shell

  10. I dont think hronek ever wanted to be here remember after the trade how long it took hronek to come to van from detroit

  11. Just because Hronek didn't answer the questions in a fashion that would help with Jeff getting clicks is a Jeff problem. Not a Hronek problem. Time to get a better class of guests on the show, Seravalli and Paterson are washed up.

  12. Is this not the third time this regime has possibly mishandled an injury? Pearson, Demko and now EP40? Who's getting concerned?

  13. The issue with Jeff's question? He was fishing. He could have simply asked, were you injured in the 2nd half of the season. Jeff basically said to his face, geez, you played good for the first half, but wow, you sucked in the second half. Do you have an injury excuse for playing like crap? That is exactly how Jeff asked or posed or approached the question. It was weak. Sorry. It was an antagonistic approach. Just because the player is there, you should treat them with respect. You don't think a pro doesn't know when they suck? Ask if he was dealing with an injury. Period. Then move on.

  14. Jeff was right. It's his damn job to question people. If you're a news or politics reporter, question people in power. Depending on who's in power, you'll upset a certain section of the population. If you're a sports reporter, question millionaire athletes because people spend their hard earned money to watch these games and if some millionaire isn't pulling his weight, the fans, who are the reason these hockey players can go home to their mansions, should have an explanation. If you didn't perform at your job to a satisfactory level, you'd be fired. These pampered princes can handle a few tough questions. That's what these end of the season press conferences are for. They're not so the media and hockey players can get together for a circle jerk. Jeff Patterson did his job and I applaud him for that. You're not supposed to just ask the easy, nice questions. Does your boss ask you nice questions when you're underperforming? Why should millionaires be any different? Jeff's job isn't to appease either fans or hockey players. His job is to ask hard questions so the fans have information they need to know so they can either reward the players and the franchise with ticket and merch sales or the exact opposite. That's how sports and politics should work. Provide people with information, whether they like it or not. How many times has a news reporter taken flack for asking a hard question of someone's favourite politician? Or go easy on someone certain parts of the electorate hate? Jeff's job isn't to make fans happy. If he does, great. Either way, I subscribe to the Tony Gallagher School of Journalism. Ask hard questions of everyone, especially when they underperform and don't play favourites.

  15. If you go back to when Tocchet got here he said he did not like players doing the head tilt to the sky , droopy shoulder downer type stuff during the game & Pettersson continues to do it on a regular basis . Just a little thing that I have not heard anyone mention .
