Ah yes, the Tyler Myers 2.0 contract.
I’ll miss him, but seeing him sign that contract elsewhere will make it a lot easier.
Sucks to lose a youngish player, but that’s going to end up being a bad contract really soon. Better off signing guys like Dillon or Tanev who are a bit older but might sign on reasonable deals.
I know it’s too much, but I’m in such an unhealthy relationship with Zadorov that I’d happily 6×6 him if he just looked my way and smiled.
I hope we learned our lesson with the Myers contract

Cups are won in finding the right talent at the right price, not falling in love with every player and paying them what the market says they’re worth.
He did not play like a 6 million dollar dman during the season. More like a 4 million dollar player. He had an awesome playoffs but I hope he will sign for less

If he rejected $4.5M x 5 years before the playoffs I don’t see how we’d have gotten much closer on bid and ask after his huge showing in the post season. He jumped up easily to be our number 3 dman and put up 8 points in 13 games. The importance of those big bodies was so clear in the post season, if Cole Lindholm Joshua Zadorov and Myers walk that’s our three biggest bodies and 5 of our biggest 8 that are walking into free agency.
It’s fine if we say Z in particular is too expensive, but this team is going to be pretty desperate to overpay for size in free agency where it’s often overpriced.
Let him sign that elsewhere and then when they agree to pay half of his salary they can trade him back to us in a year or two.
