AKA : « Félicitations, Isles ! (2019) » J’étais loin de chez moi pendant quelques jours, c’est pourquoi cette vidéo est un peu plus tardive que les autres que j’ai réalisées. On ne peut pas critiquer la saison des Isles. C’était une année où on s’attendait à ce qu’ils soient un joueur de fond, mais ils ont atteint les sommets d’un prétendant respectable aux séries éliminatoires. Cependant, aussi vite qu’ils ont accédé à la gloire, ils se sont effondrés sous la force d’un ouragan. Il peut être difficile de comprendre pourquoi, mais je pense qu’il y a peut-être une raison : ils ont dû se rendre au Barclay’s Center. Cet endroit est une prison qui n’est en aucun cas construite pour le hockey. Cela s’est manifesté dans presque tous les aspects, y compris l’ambiance et le soutien des fans. Assez difficile à faire lorsque votre base de fans principale est à une heure d’ici.

I'm honestly flabbergasted that there's still no Congrats, Canes! forthcoming. All the chest-thumping and post-victory shenanigans that earned them the infamous "Bunch of Jerks" moniker, the dethroning of the defending Cup champions and the sweep against the Eggman's seemingly unstoppable Isles, and all it got them in the end was thoroughly humiliated in the ECF. Say what you will about the Bruins, but at least the Leafs and the Jackets put up a decent fight. The Leafs took it to Game 7, and the Jackets could have easily at least done the same had Rask not turned into a concrete wall in Game 6. The Canes, on the other hand, just rolled over and died when the rest of the hockey world was counting on them to end the Bs' reign of terror.
Maybe it's because UT just can't bring himself to pile the hurt onto Hurricanes Man and his lovable Bunch of Jerks after what was ultimately an entertaining season if nothing else. Yet I feel compelled to pull a quote from Congrats, Jackets!: "The Hockey Gods give zero fucks about all that sentimental bullshit. They believe only in absolutes. The pain must be amplified to the extreme."
