  1. I have no idea what type of AAV he is seeking but he is the type of third line player we are desperately missing.

  2. Anti-MoralePolice

I don’t remember much about Joshua, but I do remember him and Gio were absolutely going at it this year, he seems like a great pest to have. Definitely the type of player that would thrive under Berube.

  3. mikesully374826

Even Canucks fans are acknowledging that the money he’s going to get will be a mistake.

  4. Nylanderthals

Sounds like exactly the type of player Treliving likes to sign for too much money and term.

Joshua has a great touch around the net and creates space along the walls with his size. But he does need a play driver and a responsible center to excel. Garland was the play driver and Blueger/Lindholm were the responsible Center men. Ideally, someone would sign him for 2.5-3m for 2/3 years. But he’s going to get the bag at 29. Which is well in his right.

  6. FinalMalus

He’d be a great fit but like others have been saying, his next contract will likely give some pause. Ideally we strike gold on a similar player while bargain bin hunting—however if we can get Joshua around $3M AAV, I’d be all for it. The Canucks were a much better team with him in the lineup and he left a big hole when he was out injured.

Want to drive your value up? Mention the Leafs!

  8. VitaminTea

29yo coming off a huge outlier season, but don’t worry, he’s chock full of intangibles. Somebody get the David Clarkson money dump truck ready.

  9. smokingaces87

He is a great player when healthy. Would be an awesome addition

  10. northdancer

Looks like he was traded for future considerations in 2019… Was this trade based off some analytics or some sort of advanced statistical model

  11. skdeimos

You create value by finding the next Joshua at league min, not paying the current Joshua what he wants. Look at the Bunting signing. We got great value out of him — but did the next team to sign him?

  12. LtColumbo93

CAREER HIGH 18 goals and 14 assists at 29 years old huh? Yeah that’s throw him a big contract.

  13. CancerFreeLeafs

    Leafs nation:

Giddy to dump Marner and at the same time, giddy to sign this guy

  14. Sad_Donut_7902

This team definitely needs to pay grinders coming off career years to expensive UFA contracts.

Leafs fans want to get rid of Marner because of cap space, just to use that space to sign 2-3 overpriced UFAs who will combine for less scoring then Marner on his own.

  15. nucksinvic

Was quite good in the regular season.

Had two very solid games in the playoffs but no showed the rest. Took some dumb penalties and one led to Predators tying the game up in Game 5.

  16. Blue_KikiT92

OMG OMG OMG. He’s been my Tim Hortons challenge go to guy for the season, I’d love to have him in the team 🤩

  17. I’m a fan of this player. We’ll see what the price tag is.

  18. Cdnraven

What does this have to do with Easton Cowan? That’s all I want to see here

  19. Dash_Rendar425

    lol Dude isn’t leaving Vancouver.

  20. Sorsby69

Somewhere along the line this subreddit flipped and decided that signing good players was NOT the way to win games

  21. EffectiveOk8648

I would be fine with seeing him come in at 3m with term. Otherwise, I think we have enough offensive depth.

  22. fakebob1

Agents are using the leafs to boost the asking price. It’s always the same.

  23. wukongreginald

Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. 3.5M is a lot of money, he’s not worth it, its too risky unfortunately, they dont have the cap space to afford a bad contract.

  24. MitchMarner

Don’t even care about being cap efficient anymore just pay the guy. Ken Holland’s team is two wins away from the Cup Final with Darnell Nurse making $9.5mill.

Hockey is stupid and makes no sense so just let the contracts go brrrrrrr

  25. to play for the coach, who didn’t really play him/seek to develop him? lol not every player with GTA ties/former Leafs system player is going to play for the Maple Leafs. sorry.

  26. Nelwyn420

I don’t think he’s getting 18 goals on a 3rd line without Garland tho, best of luck to him but it was chemistry and coaching with a willingness to put in the hard work and try to fit in the spot that was created for him in a system imho.

  27. exampleofausername

Give him a 1 year prove it deal like what Domi and Bert got.
