@Maple Leafs de Toronto

Jordan Schmaltz (@J_Swish24) sur X : (Sur Bertuzzi) 3 x 4,75 AAV. 7 des 14,75 en SB $$ sur trois ans devraient faire l’affaire. #FeuillesPourever

Ce type a cassé quelques transactions à la date limite et si c’est vrai, les Leafs devraient être partout, OMI

I’d do that, perfect term and AAV. That’s team friendly

Who else forgot that Jordan Schmaltz isn’t an active player anymore and momentarily wondered why an NHLer was weighing in on another player’s contract like this?

I would say that is a good play for us. I would take that. Term isn’t awful. Cap is manageable. He actually at least tried playing with some nuts.

Wasn’t a huge fan of him on the team at first but he got better as the season went on. Maybe more time with the team and a new coach will help get him playing his best.

ah yes, Toronto’s only leverage. Signing Bonuses.

As long as CRA gets their shit together its still an advantage we have. SB’s allow players to dump money into investments and collect interest over the years, which can level out the advantage low tax/no tax at home teams have.

Im not too worried about the JT situation, since CRA is basically trying to screw everyone at this point.

That’s a fantastic bit of business if true

  7. LtColumbo93

I’d be shocked if he signed for an AAV that low but we’ll see. Feel like the $5.5 he made last year is kind the floor of what he’d take.

Why would Bertuzzi take less money to sign for longer?

  9. VicVinegar88

The total and the AAV don’t line up

Bert isn’t making superstar money and yet takes a team friendly deal. Probably could have gotten an extra million a year somewhere else. Other players, and you know who they are, should take note. This is a teammate.

    That’d be dope. Domi next

  12. nuleaph

Pls no, too expensive for a playoff non performer

  13. The_Dale_Hunters

I’m conflicted, because that’s a good number, but I’m also not convinced he really fits the team that ideally.

  14. Radmadjazz

Anything more than 4.5 is a stretch and idk if I’d want him back in the first place. You’ve finally got like 18 mil in cap space and you’re gonna spend nearly 5 on a middle 6 who can’t help but fall over a bunch? Tell ya what, if he tucks his skate tongues for ankle support, and uses some form of tape on his blade he gets my vote to get 4.2. A full year of using equipment properly and it might pay off.

  15. Mikey_M39

This is 100% not happening and is fake.

  16. TheGapInTysonsTeeth

Perfect cap and term. Too good to be true, I think

I don’t know man. That sounds fair so it might be true. But I’m not interested in signing guys to fair deals if they don’t have upside. We need out performers, not fair performers. Bright side it’s only three years I guess so we bought three years of a guy to get 30-50 points for almost 5 million….

  18. That’s actually a reasonable number for a guy who will play in the top 6.

  19. DinoRexasaur

I’d be happy with this…but why tweet this? I doubt it’s reliable information.

  20. re10pect

It certainly wouldn’t be the worst deal, and he ended up being a useful player, but let’s just hope if the leafs get this done he is the player he was in the back half of the season way more often than he is the player he was in the first half.

  21. TheGreatJizzo

That’s a really good deal. But it basically takes a spot away from one of Knies, McMann, Robertson, or Dewar while leaving less to spend in other areas. I don’t hate the deal, but it’d have to be done while trading one of the other left wingers to deal with other issues.

Maybe something with Robertson & Lilly for Durzi or a similar 3rd pairing RD?

  22. zainery

Dont hate it. We are forgetting this guy is somewhat of a goal scorer, which he wasnt here. Hopefully he can find his shot again

  23. JRocleafs

Wow is all I have to say if this is true … great term, decent AAV. I thought his contract would look completely different so I’m pleasantly surprised.

I still think the AAV is a little high for a guy who got 43 points but if he can play out 3 years like he did the back half of last season then the contract is going to be a massive bargain.

Can’t wait for this bozo to get off my team.
