They say it about fans touchin the cup to but I call bullshit. My dad worked at a JCPenny in 1997 in PA they brought the cup for an event before the cup final game in Philly, my father a die hard Red Wings fan was allowed to hold the cup with the handler. The wings won the cup 3 more times in the next 11 years

Avs did touch the trophy in Campbell trophy in 2022, but left it on the ice. I guess they we're following GM Joe Sakic words 'Touch the damn thing'..

Could be, in 2014 the Rangers captain Ryan mcdounh touched the trophy and we lost to the kings in the Stanley cup finals in 2014 so I'd say there probably is a curse, but the NHL IS prejudice against the Rangers anyway.
