  1. I think the big miss for the Stars is a Darien Hatcher type strongman that can be physical during the playoffs.

Right now, the only guys that will get physical are Benn, Marchment and Tanev.

Tanev is a must sign. Dude is a solid hockey player. Would love to see Pav’s come back for a year in a final quest for the cup.

  2. Its tough to beat the last 2 Cup winners in consecutive series and have nothing to show for it. In the end that might've been Dallas' downfall. Even though Edmonton played a tough series against Vancouver, I dont think anyone would argue they had a much easier time on their way to the Conference Finals. And more fortunate not having to face Demko.

Having the core is the hard part but its clear the Stars already have that. Now they just need to put the right players around those guys. They'll def be back and I wouldn't be surprised to see them win a Cup in the next 3-5 years.

  3. sign tanev, work on special teams, thats what killed them, suter was ok defensively. i would let duch, and pavs move on. nils is a question mark.. i am proud of my stars.. it does feel like dallas was playing the entire country of canada . hats off to the oilers , they deserved to win. i saved and framed the paper from 99. what could i frame if they win it again? thx shannon, as always, for doing a great job of covering the sport i adore, and love.. go stars …

  4. A step behind by a little bit is putting it generously. With all due respect to his great career, but Pavelski looked awful all playoffs. He was so much slower than almost everyone in all 3 rounds. And since he really only had way of scoring, it was really easy for opposition to shut him down.

Thank god theres only 1 year left of suffering Suter. Letting Hakenpaa walk is also fine, ive seen enough of him as well. Duchene, take him or leave him. He had the big series winner in Colorado, and did good in the regular season but again kind of a no show when games mattered. Tanev… he played well but hes 34 and he gets hurt a lot. Wouldn't mind him staying at the right price but if another team overpays, its best to move on.

As for Benn. Hes thankfully, only got 1 more year on that big contract. I dont mind him staying beyond that, at a much much lower price, but if he does… this year should be his last as Captain. Obviously, that's a delicate thing, but with 1 year remaining, now is the time to ask him respectfully to use this last year to transition to someone else.

I think he made up for his insane stupidity last year against Vegas. But THG touched on it last night. I think of all the critical games where he just disappeared. The moment got too big for him, and it happened again last night. There's always talk of what a great leader he is, but that shrinking can be contagious to a locker room.

To end on a positive the kids look great and hopefully they grow even more next season. Hopefully Lian also continues the streak of great draft picks. They may lack experience but they got that youthful heart that allows them to play without fear. Need more of that i think to take that next step.

  5. I don’t agree with the take that we can’t win with DeBoer. What I DO agree with is that we can’t win with Spott as our PP coach. That was undoubtedly the deciding factor in us losing to EDM.

  6. I really think we could see Edmonton and Dallas face off frequently in the Conference Finals for the next five years. I look forward to this becoming an intense rivalry.

  7. This hurt alot.. it was a great season though. It hasn't been too rough as a stars fan going to the finals in 2020 and back to back conference finals the last 2 years. We could have it alot worse. The Stars will be back. I trust the organization in that they know the team is very close and they will make the proper moves to put themselves back in the hunt again next year.
    Cheers Shannon ! 🍻 🌟

  8. As a Stars fan, we had plenty of depth, but that depth didnt show up in this Oilers series. Cant get blanked on the PP and then get shredded on the PK as well. Needed more from guys like Duchene, Roope, Pavelski, and Robertson. Disappointing end to the season. Id be shocked if we somehow miss the playoffs next season though.

  9. It's a good place to be in when you have all your 1st round draft picks and you're expected to return as a Final Four team. They're not just a team of older veterans, which speaks to being well managed to staying up at the top for the long term. Speaking of which, this is traditionally the time of year when people ask, just like the last 6-7 years, if this is the last year for Joe Pavelski. I hope he comes back for one more season, so he can get to 500 goals.

  10. Seguin and Benn making almost 10 million at this stage in their careers. Good for them but they are robbing the organization 😂

  11. Just trade suter away at whatever cost. Sign pesce or ekholm type solid physical d. Try to trade seguin for some more physical top 6 forward and next year win stanley cup.

  12. I disagree with Dallas being good next year. These teams only get a few chances and they have had their s

  13. You cannot win a Cup with Pete DeBoer as your coach. The dude needs to go: our conditioning was off, and our play was unsound. We deserved to be bounced

  14. I always enjoy your videos man and thankfully this lifted my spirits after seeing them lose this series to Edmonton. Our future is bright and our time will come someday

  15. The Stars have to be a better home playoff team. 4-6 at home in the playoffs and 0-3 in Game 1s. Unacceptable. You work hard all regular season to get home-ice advantage and you don't take advantage? Pathetic.

  16. With how well Jim Nill has drafted the trading a first for Niks Lundkvist is really a double whammy. The stars have really hit some home runs at the draft table recently.

  17. I watched every Stars game in the playoffs. When they're off, they're off. But when they're playing good, they rank easily amongst the top teams in the league. Agree: this team is facing a great future.

  18. "Wait 'til next year" gets really fast especially if next year never comes. Sure the Stars will still be good, but when will they take the next step to being great?

  19. If I were to play arm chair GM I'd trade Faksa and buy out Suter, let Pavs, Duchy, Lund, and Hak walk. That'd give you space to sign Tanev AND maybe even a Marchessalt🫢

  20. DeBoer is a joke. 10 shots allowed and they lose game. Fire DeBoer, trade Oettinger, trade Wyatt Johnston while his value is high. Retool and get to SCF within 2 seasons.

  21. How do you lose a game despite only allowing 10 shots? That is the most embarrassing loss I've ever seen.

  22. Dallas is a finesse team , and finesse teams don’t last in the playoffs. You can already see that in Vegas series

  23. Up until this year I had thought of Dallas as a team of a bunch of older guys trying to get that last cup run. Boy was I wrong. It’s those guys getting carried by these young guns while showing them the way. Dallas is set up for a while now

Edit: carried might be a strong word but their young guns are good

  24. Stars won't win while Benn is captain. Cup winners always have their captain as one of their best players, he doesn't have it.

Captains of Cup winners last 10 years:

    23 – Mark Stone
    22 – Nathan MacKinnon
    21 – Steven Stamkos
    20 – Steven Stamkos
    19 – Alex Pietrangelo
    18 – Alex Ovechkin
    17 – Sidney Crosby
    16 – Sidney Crosby
    15 – Jonathon Toews
    14 – Dustin Brown

These are all a level above Benn, in play and in leadership.

Same reason Rangers won't win while Trouba is captain.

  25. There are so many players on this team that I cannot wait to cheer for. As soon as they leave for a team that I don't find to be completely revolting.

Oettinger, Heiskanen, Tanev, Steel, Johnston, Roberston, Seguin

  26. Still think Dallas had the most difficult opponents this year the two previous cup winners and then then a really good Oilers team. Rooting for Florida but wouldn’t be surprised if Edmonton won

  27. The Hintz injury really snake bit Robertson. Robertson was a different player with/without him. Pavelski fell off in the playoffs, be interesting to hear if he was nursing an injury or father time was catching up.

Credit really goes to Skinner from Edmonton, he stopped 34/35 shots in Game 6, IDC what team you are, that's a tough nut to crack.

  28. Dallas is going downhill before they come back up. They need to dump the old players , they held them back. They have a lot of young skilled soon to be superstars. I really think this was their best but last chance to win the cup with the current roster
