Revue du sixième match Stars vs Oilers

Dallas n’a tout simplement pas pu générer l’offensive nécessaire des matchs 4 à 6. Edmonton a une chance de remporter la première Coupe pour une équipe canadienne depuis 1993. 1. Did anyone notice these parallels between both conference finals?

Both teams were lower seed in conference final

Both team conference final against opposing division leader

Both teams opponents had 3 more regular season wins then them in the conference final

Both teams believed to have the weaker goalie in their series

    Both teams

    Won game 1 on road
    Lost game 2 on road
    Lost game 3 at home
    Won game 4 at home
    Won game 5 on road
    Won game 6 at home

  2. Shannon, I continue to be impressed by you year after year with your ability to stay as objective as possible and review some seriously heartbreaking playoff series losses for your favorite teams. I do not have the emotional maturity to be able to do what you do. I'm sure Oilers fans appreciate you letting them have their flowers.

  3. The Stars are clearly just tired, they had a way harder path to the conference finals than the Oilers and just couldn't keep up anymore

  4. The Panthers are healthy unlike last year at this point. They also remember Vegas celebrating and rubbing it in their faces. Difference is Bobrovsky is better than Skinner.

  5. The Oilers played defensively all game. Whenever they created a turnover in this game, they take it as a chance to change players on the ice while only one or two were attacking.

  6. yeah not a fan of mocking the goalie esp when he is the best player on the ice. ppl who say special teams doesn't mean anything are just stupid lol, you gotta take advantage of those chances. easiest way to tilt the ice in your favor is special teams. Cats vs Edm is going to be amazing for special teams watching, cats and edm are both good on either side. reino on one side , mcjesus on the other on the pp.

  7. Except for a few minutes in the third period Edmonton was in control of the whole game. Their D were calm in and in control, didn't panic and kept the stars to the outside firing low %shots.

  8. Draisaitl just living rent free in your head after that goalie/post comment 12 days ago, hey? 😅

Great content as always though 😊

  9. Edmontonian here, still buzzing with relief that we're heading back to the Stanley Cup Finals! I have to agree with you though, Otty was a beast for Dallas this entire series. And truly, I feel like the rest of Dallas forgot to show up the last two games. At least they remembered to shoot the puck this last game.

  10. Dallas just couldn't pull the trigger when it mattered. They want that perfect shot or something. Credit to Edmonton there position was sound. Then when they do shoot they miss the net alot.. i loved the goal they got and thats what you do, shoot the puck towards the damn net and and get on it!! Now defensively, they played awesome. That's the dallas I know. They were on the puck always and played hard for 60 minutes. I am a proud stars fan. It was a great season and we will be back!
Goodluck next round oiler fans. Bring that cup to Canada. 🍻 🍁

This was a masterclass lesson in it's not how many you shoot it's how many go in. The collary to that is DO NOT GIVE THE EDMONTON OILERS POWER PLAYS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCORED ON. The collary to that is GET USED TO NOT SCORING ON ANY POWER PLAYS YOU GET. Look if all you look at is stats other than the number of goals at the end of the game the Oilers should have LOST this game. Skinner faced a ton of rubber. The Oilers had a ton of blocks but really, other than that, they were mostly wrecked analytically at the SURFACE level (the base stats, not the detailed ones when you drill in). Thankfully math LIES. Again, what counts is how many go IN, not how many you SHOOT. Dallas was much better in the faceoff dot. They hit more (like almost double). Doesn't mean squat. The Oilers won and proceed to the Cup Finals round against Florida. A big BAD THING was Kane's injury but hopefully nearly a week's rest will help a lot. Great job boys, it's not done yet, there are still four more wins needed. Hope Never Dies but neither does Faith. Take care all.

  12. I don't know if people will agree with me but this might have been Darnell Nurse's best game of the year. He played like he had something to prove and he did.

  13. I remember telling people to simmer down when everyone was blowing up over Edmonton losing 10 straight, my Blues came back from last place in January to take it all in 2019.

But I'm not prideful of it. I'm already getting sour about this storybook ending trying to compare to it. Last time I try to console fairweather fans.

  14. Really fantastic analysis here Shannon. I watched the game (rooting for the oilers of course.. as an AVS fan..) and felt they played a good game. Seemed much more even shots wise. And the oilers just have the secret sauce that Dallas doesn’t have. And I think oilers/panthers is a better matchup so it’s great for us fans of good games…and we’re all rooting for mcdavid!! Right?!!!! He deserves a cup in his career. Would be heartbreaking to have them loose a close series. And there wasn’t a time where I was like “crap! Dallas is overwhelming the d and is clearly outplaying us..” in this series. Vs the avs? It felt that way several times. Like the ot game (think 5) where we won but it was all Dallas but then wood scores on an absolutely insane break. It was a weird series where the avs should have won in 6 with things going the way they should have. With Val showing up for game 4 etc… really sad to see Val let the team down again 2 years in a row. He’s the reason we lost to Seattle. Not saying we win the cup in 23’ with him… like 10% chance. But for sure he’s the reason we didn’t make it pas Dallas this year. And at least to the final 4. I think the oilers/avs matchup would have been amazing with Val and in that universe where he’s still playing…. But it ain’t a reality here. We keep Drouin now tho so that’s good. And I’d trade our unicorn mikko for a top 5 goalie and to sign a few depth players to replace JJ and cogs… if Landy is back and a top 6 as well? Damn, we’re looking good. And I actually believe Drouin could be a better player than mikko like now. And has potencial to get somewhere close to matching his points. Do the Avs trade Mikko and go with my plan? No, not likely. Like 5% chance. You don’t go trading 100-105 pt players on a hope and a dream. But the avs for sure play different with a top 5 goalie. Georgie did well the last 10 games tho. If his performance drops for a 10 game set prior to deadline he’s gotta go. No risking another cup on him deciding to play well all the time and showing up awake for the first.

End of rant… go oilers!!!! O, and Bouchard? wtf man!!!! I thought he was like 30 or something. Younger than Makar?! And doubled his points this year to a ppg d man? wtf man haha

  15. Absolutely agree about the Otter chants. His team did squat to back him up. All those shots right to skinners chest. Trying way too hard to find the perfect shot instead of just shooting the damn thing especially when you have 45 seconds left to score 2 goals (game 5). Ridiculous. As a Stars fan i think it would've been hilarious to instead taunt Benn with a JAY-MEE chant. Otter didn't play out of his mind but he definitely wasn't the reason they lost.

  16. As a canucks fan, you cant get me to cheer for the oilers. In 2011, living in edm, many fans here talked crap about vancouver wanting them to lose. Never forget.

  17. You're misunderstanding the "mockery" and need to lighten up about it. It's NOT mockery, it's called the goalie hex and goes all the way back to when Belfour constantly stoned the Oilers in the playoffs. It's an attempt to get inside his head and throw him off of his game, similar to when basketball fans wave those squiggly things in front of opposing free-throw shooters. That's not mockery, and chanting the name of a goalie is also NOT mockery, but an attempt to give an advantage to playing on home ice. Please get this straight.

  18. Agree with your take on the game not being THAT one-sided, at least until the late goal. Wasn’t tracking too closely, but I can’t recall many examples of the Stars getting that second shot off a rebound. Loads of first shots from distance and then a quick recovery and back out again from the Oilers. Special teams were huge (says Captain Obvious)!
Stars took the fewest penalties this year in the NHL and were still gutted by the Oilers’ PP in games 5 & 6. Hopefully this bodes well for the Oilers now playing against the most penalized team (Panthers)!

  19. 0:17 or the host can listen to a couple of slow baseball games or manufactured drama with Yankee fans com play while they are cruising this season or the Phillies or Dodgers as well while the Mets are sinking just like the Angels

  20. 13:06 Last Canadian pro team to win was the 2019 Toronto Raptors Kawai Leonard Kyle Lowery and Pascal Siakam. Last pro Canadian team title. Before my Knicks came back two seasons later.

  21. I think the Stars may have deserved to win that game, but overall, I think the Oilers still deserved to win the series.

This Oilers team, is the best Oilers team I have seen during my entire life time.

  22. I picked the Oilers in 6 and the Oilers to come out of the west. Very happy I should have bet 😂

  23. Congratulations THG, the team you constantly cheered for and whose fans you constantly pandered to the previous round made it to the finals. You must be ecstatic for all the views and subscribers.

  24. As a Canucks fan, while I'm still salty about the Oilers beating us in Round 2, I feel a little better knowing that they shut down Dallas in 6, compared to us in 7, making us the tougher opponent, albeit we didn't show up for a couple of the games whereas Dallas showed up for all 6.

  25. Stars fan here. Cannot root for Edmonton to win the cup. Tired of all the Canadian influenced media having Connorgasms every 5 mins because they want a Canadian team to win so bad. Oilerswere the faster team and their star players outplayed ours. Congrats to them but I hope Florida wins.

  26. Congratulations to the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers. The 2024 Stanley Cup is going to be awesome.

  27. That might be the worst series-clinching performance I've ever seen. The PK unit and (surprisingly) Skinner saved the Oilers' bacon. The good news for the Oilers is that the Panthers might be overconfident after watching that game.

  28. Tuff to see my stars go out like that. But they didn’t play like they wanted it up until game 6 & you’re not winning a cup that way
    Hope Mcdavid gets his cup!
