Levshunov would be amazing. There isn’t a player in that top 5 I don’t want.
I personally wouldn’t be mad at getting Levshunov, in term of raw potential he’s very close to demidov for me, an exciting offensive RD with all the tools you could want. probably the closest thing to a 1D you can get in a prospect, tho I will say that I do think on the little chance that he doesn’t reach his potential he could end up busting hard.
Yeah, others have pretty much summed it up. To get the top D in this draft is huge.
The only caveat is that management makes a move for another forward.
I can’t wait until the other teams snipes all the forward options and we’re stuck with another D. On the bright side we surely will get one of the best D in the league. I mean who doesn’t love a good D?
I would pick catton before Iginla and probably lindstrom and Levshunov would be a steal at 5.

Yeah but it would still be worrying to see so many teams in need of Dmen drafting a F instead… Lev has got some huge red flags, Dickinson a limited offensive ceiling and so has Silayev
I’d be okay with taking Levshunov in this spot if it happens. That being said if another close team below us really wants a D that badly, they can trade up a couple of spots, we get a little extra something, and still come out with the likes of Catton, Sennecke or Eiserman if we’re dead set on a forward.
Hey in this scenario we get Levshunov then there’s no way we don’t have the best D core for at least the next decade.

Levshunov is not a bad consolation prize. They can flip one of their higher end dmen like Guhle for a forward, etc. Not going to cry if it happens.
I’m very tempted by Dickinson, he’s got all the assets of a top first pairing defender. I’d entertain the idea of moving back a couple spots to 7, maybe 8-9 if you think Sennecke’s in the same tier and grab another pick or player in the process. Ottawa has the 25OA pick so something could get done and then you trade up with 25+26OA into the teens and grab Trevor Connelly. He’s done some dumb shit but he’s so talented.
I see Iginla falling to us, and despite the brand recognition, I’m still not fully convinced
Yo I’m drafting Dickinson/Levshunov and I’m yeeting Guhle away to NJD for one of their best young forward. Never play defense again and win/lose every game 7-6 for the next 4 years. I’m assuming Matheson we’ll be gone by the time our core is ready to play together so we’d have something like.

As for me, I wouldn’t mind Levshunov, a monster of a top-D, at 5th OA. Even though my choice for this year is Demidov, I know the chances we’ll draft him at 5th are very slim.
There’s just no way these bottom-feeder clubs pass on all the top-pairing D in this draft (unless they actually view the Leafs model as a screaming success…)

This would not hurt us in the long run.
It means the team may need to pay for 2 forwards to fill out the top 9 but our D would be elite.
Iginla will be top 10 for sure, but 4 is a little high and other players will pan out as better in the long run than Iginla at 5. I hate it but I’d select a defenseman (Levshunov but i doubt he’ll be available, Parekh, Buium) over Iginla if Demidov and Lindstrom are gone

Was this not predictable last draft that next years class was going to be full of top d men or did all these guys jump rankings? It makes the reinbacher pick even more confusing to me
