Only 5 (6 if you want to split hairs) teams have returned to the SCF after losing the SCF the previous year. The last two, Pittsburgh and Edmonton won the Cup in rematches. The '78 Bruins lost the rematch. The '69 and '70 Blues (the split hair) lost a rematch and the following year to the Bruins. In effect, the Panthers are the first team to go to a SCF in a non rematch since the 1970 Blues. Arguably, the situation is much different as the Blues went 0-12 in three consecutive SCFs because they were a sacrificial lamb in the NHL's poorly conceived Old NHL division winner facing off against an Expansion division winner. So for three years, the dregs of the Original Six were trying to compete with their former top line teammates. This is not that. This is organically the first NHL team in the modern era to return to the SCF as a loser in a non rematch. Top line talent aside, I believe the Panthers are more battle tested than the Oilers. More often than not, great teams lose before they win. Again, top line aside, I think the Panthers win on all other aspects, goaltending, defense and depth of lineup.
I have the Cats because they get contributions all around. The Oilers are too top 6 six reliant. The Cats have a more balanced attack and a better blueline.
Oilers in 5….
Hey guys, epic channel and great show. I think there may be some valid criticisms of Stuart Skinner, but there are absolutely zero criticisms of that epic stache! Keep up the great work, guys! Go Oilers!
McDavey and Crysaitle will never win a cup for that organization. Skinner is a halfer compared to Bobrovsky.
Oilers in 6
It's going to be a long shot but go Oilers.
Oilers win cup in 5
Florida wins cup 7
edm
Any one can win but honestly I just have a gut feeling that Florida is going to do WHATEVER it takes to win this year. I think it simply just comes down to that and nothing against Edmonton but I believe the Panthers will be able to neutralize anybody that the Oilers have, just being candid but anything can happen -Panthers in 5 or 6….. Said Panthers fan…
I'm here a lot of individual praise for Edmonton players, what Panthers have is an entire team bought in. I am a buffalo fan first so I'm not biased and I also love McDavid
Y'all are insane. Panthers just went through three of the leagues best goalies and not to mention their teams were not too shabby as well.
They said the same thing about Kutcheron, Pastranik, Panarin and what happen to those guys??Pls bro. Mcdavid will get his but he will NOT do whatever he wants out there. Panthers in 6
Jeez. They really had to wait until the 8th to get this party started.
I was sure DAL would demolish EDM, so I'm not allowed to pick anymore.
Panthers in 7
I feel like edmontons defensive game is being undervalued. Thats the biggest difference in this team this year
Keep talking Florida up boys. This helps for the white board just like vancourver and Dallas.
Oilers in 4
I think this series is going 5 and who wins will be decided by one thing and that is can the panthers contain the mcjesus line. If they can contain that line to half its previous series goals and not give up more than 30% on the pp its panthers in 5. If they can't it oilers in 5.
Florida gonna beat edmonton in 6
The panthers will out muscle the oilers and win in 6 as long we can stay out of the penalty box.
With 5 ex-Leafs on the team, the Oilers are likely doomed to lose in game 7 OT
Tkachuk and Bennett are ex fLames, born losers, no cup for them
This black dude doesnt know anything outside Oiler hockey. LMAO – talking about dominance when they literally had 10 shots. No Team is playing 7 games against the Panthers and winning
