Jeff Marek on @WGR550 today:
"I think everybody in the organization understands that if there's not playoffs next year for the Buffalo Sabres, it's gonna be ugly.
It's going to be a blood-letting. People are going to be loading up the fax-machines with pink paper."

[link to the talk](https://omny.fm/shows/howard-and-jeremy/hour-3-jeff-marek-joins-the-show-talking-on-the-sa). You can do a lot of long term damage by trying to force a move.
Good. At this point, it should be.
New coach notwithstanding; between ownership, Adams, and the core signed long term it’s time to get shit fucking done.
It’s been long enough with the longevity of the brass and the core of players.
Enough talk.
This is the kind of talk that makes you make dumb decisions. Of course there’s a balance of « stick to the plan » and a sense of urgency, but if you know it’s playoffs or fired, you are going to naturally not care about the longer term plans. That’s a tomorrow problem.
And then there’s context. If TT and UPL have a season-ending injury and you don’t make the playoffs, are you going to torpedo the whole staff?
Christ I hope they don’t mortgage too much or it’s gonna be another 10
Playoffs or new GM.
Stop the embarrassment!
Step 1: we need to build from within, give young talent time to prosper, and be patient.
Step 2: these young guys aren’t meeting expectations, we need to trade some of them away for veteran leadership to win now.
Step 3: these vets are awful, they just don’t want to be here, we need to trade for picks and build for the future from within.
Step 4: rinse and repeat.
The Sabres Cycle, a « tail » as long as Sabretooth’s
Should’ve added an actual Team President between Adams and Pegula, but at least we got a new roof.
It’s been that way the past two years, these people are fucking delusional. I didn’t watch this shit team at all last year. It’s WAY overdue they make the playoffs.
