I still remember this intro very vividly. the one they did for game 5 with Matthew Good’s « Weapon » will stick with me forever though. I just searched it to confirm it *was* game 5 and I instantly got chills at the first notes, but I still can’t bring myself to watch all of it again.

  2. Watching Bieksas goal still gives me chills. I remember that playoff run so vividly, feels like yesterday

Fuck, that IS good. Someone needs to win a filmmaking award of some kind for that.

Can’t watch it but it goes to show how poor the production and quality is of the sportsnet broadcasts since they’ve taken over. Can’t hold a candle to the old cbc hnic standard. Those intros would often give you goosebumps. Todays product is a joke in comparison.

I remember at that time I watched it over and over and the line « we could have had it all » kept sticking with me. Like a bad omen. Epic intro and epic collapse.

Why you gotta hurt me still?

I hate that song whenever I hear it on the radio.

This wasn’t even the best intro of the series. Game 6 and the full game 2 intro were better IMO.

This one is the pain. I watch it sometimes and still can’t believe how sad it makes me, and feel the goosebumps just remembering how amped I was for this game feeling like we would win no matter what because reasons.

This made me cry just now, soon after I had a very important thing happen. It was not a great thing – but this video, it made me cry. It makes me think about the beauty in playing hockey. The fact it makes you think about the Canucks in particular is odd. Not sure I see that angle. But live and let live. Not my place to say anything. I can keep a mouth shut. Been doing it half my life. Wouldn’t mess around.

I watch this every few years whenever the Canucks get bounced or don’t make the playoffs and all it does is give me a great sense of “what if” inside. The entire city was so different and full of positivity back then and we were all so much younger. Bittersweet time but also a period that I look back fondly on.

I still think of this intro any time I hear this song, and it still hurts.

Might be an unpopular opinion for other hockey fans, but the « Canadian Gold » intro theme is honestly my favorite, not to mention all of the memories of that 2008 to 2014 era of hockey that we Canucks fans had. I think it was so hated back then just because it followed up the iconic HNIC theme, because otherwise it was so great. At least the original hockey theme is on TSN, but Canadian Gold is gone and replaced by soulless, bland stock music now.

Then of course you have all of these wonderful montages. The « best » HNIC montage under Sportsnet was maybe the ending to the 2017 final, and even then it had nothing on these ones.
