I HATE THE CAPITALS!
Ok congrats to Sellers. Puck pedia here we come.
Puckpedia exists for cap data
No conflict of interest there at all. Also, anti-competitive. League could tell Capitals 'no'.
If you got offer the bag, I’ll take it too…..soooo stfu sell out guys
Question is WTF will the capitals will do to that website? Like why?
Boycott?
The existence of Puckpedia renders this move by the Caps pointless. I'm guessing the other 31 teams just bookmarked Puckpedia as I just have.
Lmao, shutting it down to gain some sort of advantage?? Makes no sense. It's not like the site is very sophisticated, there will very easily be another site to fill its shoes with no problem. Something smells like fish
That's like having a hockey competition and breaking everyone's sticks and ruining it for everyone
What the F#%$
My hockey nerd died died a little bit today
Boycott the Washington capitals. Don't go to any of there games. Spread the word tank that that team
Eh, it was inevitable. The Caps were just first to the finish line.
seriously why do Washington Capitals EVEN DO THAT? They are only alienating people. I know I will boycott the Washington Capitals on my end now. Like what does it change to them?
This is some bull S
WooooW….! Love the vid. If that's what really happens to cap friendly, then that's just stupid !!!!!
Another reason to HATE the Washington Capitals. May they take the Sharks place in the basement for the next 3 decades.
WTF
Caps fan
And if they don't keep the current staff it will be a disaster. Their monumental sports network app is the worst streaming app.
If cap friendly goes down,
Why would the data still be up to date?
I didn’t even know puck pedia existed
Got it bookmarked now
I still don't understand what advantage the Caps get from shutting it down. I get if they want to charge a subscription fee or something and make a profit, but taking it down doesn't serve them. Their GM uses it too. If it goes dark, they're not going to be updating the database, so the Caps don't have that resource any longer either.
Plus, if it's that valuable of a resource, someone else will launch their own. As pointed out, CapFriendly isn't the first site that provides this information.
Gone, but never forgotten. Someone will pick up the mantle and create a new one. It's all a matter of time.
this fawkin blows
I hate Washington now
Okay but like buying hurts the Caps as well. Also I'm pretty sure all the same info is easily available to all the GMs. I suspect the GMs only used this as a fun and easy tool instead of having some math dude crunch numbers on the fly.
Sucks. Go Puckpedia.
So someone else start another site? Just copy and paste and monitor all deals going fwd.
typical capitals, bum franchise, haven't even got a proper logo lol
The reason in the video doesn't make sense. I mean, a bunch of similar sites are going to pop up…
Look those capfriendly also do baseball , football , basketball, soccer??? Well if they don't then you got something you can moneytize ! Otherwise the capitals are selfish pricks !
I can't believe NHL teams use capfriendly for doing their business.
Also can't believe the league doesn't provide that to teams. How are you supposed to make trades without knowing the players cap hit? Like who's running this league
Don't worry we went through the same thing when the Capgeek owner passed. An alternative will come!
The Capitals are just smarter than the rest of you. GO CAPS GO
Cap Friendly is the best website in sports. There is nothing like it.
somebody else will just make another cap site..dumb move by an organization I am starting to dislike..not really worried but stiull a dirty move by the Caps franchise..I guess since they are old and finished now they are trying to stay relevant somehow lol
All the more reason to hate the capitals
I wish I were smart enough to start my own alternate site…. But I’m not.
There are other sites….. and will be other sites…..
The capitals are pathetic. First they kill their own team by making sure ovechkin reaches Gretzky. Then they buyout a free website that aides everyone and make it private. They got owned in the playoffs and are mad
they are still mad they got swept in round 1
Look im no expert but is that not something somewhat easy to replicate? Maybe not the same but must not be all that hard to have something similar.
Capitals are dog water
I don’t think it’s the website the Caps are looking for, but the brain trust behind it. Let’s face it, the cap is confusing, and a lot of shenanigans go into keeping a team cap compliant. And the capfriendly team seems to know the salary cap better than anyone.
Yeah I don’t get this purchase. Doesn’t every nhl team have their own software?
Plus why can’t we have any open source websites anymore?
It’s this constant steam of milking it for money.
With that said I would have paid a minimum for acesss to capfriendly. I can’t believe another media source couldn’t have made them a lucrative offer. They could have cross promoted each other.
As a wings fan I already disliked the capitals but not I really despise rhem
