Rumored to be a short term (1-2 yr.) deal around 3 mill, which is perfect for a guy like Brossoit. Ideal tandem goalie for Woll; Brossoit is experienced, professional, and has been a part of winning programs in Vegas and Winnipeg. Brings Stanley Cup experience from VGK, and would be a great addition.

Cheap, dependable and most importantly, is well accustomed to being a back up/tandem. Still allows Woll to develop and potentially be the starter, with a pretty solid safety blanket or back up plan in Brossoit if injury or poor play become an issue. Get er done, Brad!

Brossoit is likely the best option in a pretty awful FA goalie pool, I’m just wary of doing a tandem *again* because it’s hard to depend on Woll at this point.

Out of all of the guys available this summer, I trust him the most. Should be cheap as well and can mentor Woll. Not that old either.

Never played more than 24 games in an NHL season. Was in the AHL last year. That would set up for a 3 goalie rotation not a duo.

If we go in with just Brossoit and Woll I wouldn’t expect anything better than what we’ve been getting, which is simply not good enough.

But if we don’t make a big move this next season is dead anyways. May as well sign him to a 1 year deal and plan for 25-26.

I’m of the opinion that you either get a couple cheap goalies (like we’d have with Woll and Brossoit) or you get an elite guy. There’s no elite guy available, so not spending too much cap on goalie so we can spend more $ on revamping our D seems like the smart move to me

Yay, more gambling on a cheap goalie. It’s not like it hasn’t worked out every year since Belfour left.

  7. Brossoit – Woll – Jones

We need a trio like last season because if our injury luck imo

I think it’s fine. My main concern with him or stolarz is they’re coming from defensively structured team or a team with pietrangelo lol. We don’t really shelter the goalies here.

Please be true. Brossoit is the perfect guy to pair with Woll

according to whom? leafs latest has this inside info? I doubt it. but if it is true, I’d be cool with that.

  11. Would be solid overall as he’s been a league average goalie overall for years and is not too old

    **however**

At least a bit unsettling that almost every single year he has alternated in terms of performance with last two years being both very good

If anyone is due for a down phase it is him

It’s all very small sample size stuff though so definitely tricky to assess and a bit more aesthetic than substance

Can the NHL just abolish the tampering rules already? It’s pretty fucking clear that there isn’t a team in the league who abides by them…and that the NHL head office doesn’t give 2 shits about it anyway.

I like it. But there are much more reliable sources than “Leafslatest” on this, lol

Goalies are important but, but competent defence more so

hard fuckin pass. Fuck this asshole

Could be a good bargain. He’s a veteran who’s shown improvement, and can probably start 35-50 games, depending on need.

Also wouldn’t be surprised to see Murray re-signed, taking over Jones’s place as third-stringer, and maybe sneaking into 15+ games.

I’d rather roll the dice on a short term low caphit contract for a guy like Broissoit (or Stolarz), than give up assets AND take on a much bigger caphit for a guy like Markstrom (who is pretty overrated and coming off two bad/mediocre years in a row in his mid 30s).

Binnington? Maybe, but he’s probably the definition of an average starter, would cost assets, and has a big caphit.

Ulmark/Saros? Sure, those are more legit starters, but trade cost would be high, both need new contracts (and would want ~7-8 years), and are on the wrong side of 30.

Out of the options available, I think I’d rather go with someone like Broissoit, and give Woll a chance to seize the net. Then revisit in a year with hopefully a better UFA crop.

Dude is a right wing nutcase, I’d be skeptical about those types of guys, they usually come with a lot of personal baggage and being under the spotlight of Toronto makes even the most squeaky clean athlete sweat under the scrutinizing. Don’t think it’s a good fit personally.

    Woll-Brossoit-Murray

surely one of them can take us to the cup – right? right?

  20. Shawn13337

Trade for John Gibson at 50% retained. Gibson as a 1A/1B would be amazing. I truly believe his numbers are shit because of the team he is playing for. Some guys just lack motivation when they are on a terrible team i.e Drew Doughty when the Kings were rebuilding vs Drew Doughty now and when they were Stanley cup contenders.

  21. Sammydaws97

Is this a Martin Jones replacement?

I will not feel comfortable with Woll/Brossoit as our tandem to start the year…

Didn’t I read somewhere on Reddit today that Brossoit in Alex Jones listening, conspiracy theorist dumbass? Please no!
