Écoutez-moi!

People have been doing this math since he signed his deal

  2. georgie336

He will sign for league min – we all know where his heart is.

  3. SalaciousPanda

Form everything I’ve seen from Oilbros and other fans, the expectation (if him and drai *don’t* re-sign) is that they likely head south.

Signing another team’s first overall pick and captain that grew up a Leafs fan at a huge cap hit has certainly never hamstrung this team before. Worth a shot!

If McDavid hasn’t won a cup with Edmonton wouldn’t he be more likely go to a team that’s in a place with less/no income tax and is competitive? Tampa/Dallas/Florida for example. I don’t really see Toronto as a place he would sign besides him wanting to be closer to family. Unless he sees perennial 1st round exit as competitive

  6. Oh god please as much as I love McJesus I don’t want him to ruin his career.

  7. drow_enjoyer

McDavid is a winner, he is always working on winning. It’s everything to him. Why would he come to a team that is known for losing? The appeal of Toronto is not as high as we think it is.

I would love to see Conner mcdavid be a maple leaf

  9. Electronic-Guide1189

Only worth it if you can get him to strap on some goalie pads!

Why can’t leaf fans be normal?get married have kids,do normal things

  11. Judge_Tredd

Well, at least he wouldn’t get harassed on a beer run in Toronto.

  12. LivingLifeSomewhere

That’s why he can’t (and wont) win with edmonton. He will win at home

  13. Acrobatic_Law5598

Mcdavid wants a cup. It would never happen with leafs.

  14. shanster925

Marner, Tavares both take $5 million x 8 years. McDavid and Matthews make a combined $30 million. That way leafs keep their core, and all thd pundits can keep saying « they have $40 million tied up in 4 players! »

  15. trinier101

Trade Mariner, straight up. I mean he thinks he’s worth McDavid money. In all seriousness, I would do anything possible to see McDavid in a leaf Jersey

  16. taxi_to_the_moon

This is why the Tavares contract ends when it does, to line up with McDavid. You’re about 7 yrs late lol. Glad you arrived though.

  17. scratchieepants

I suppose he’ll be interested in signing in Toronto if he doesn’t want to taste a crushing defeat in the finals again.

  18. We would still have to trade for him. What are we giving back? lol

  19. Sacred_soul

It looks good but I just don’t see Mcdavid Edmonton

  20. Tazzylovescoffee

It would be nice, but I don’t think he would do it

  21. publicbigguns

Who’s dick do I have to suck to get this to happen?

  22. buddachickentml

Need a goalie before any talk of brining in McDavid. Skinner is sewering the Oilers right now.

  23. RealCanadianDragon

    He has 2 years left.

Unless he flat out tells the Oilers he’s not coming back after his deals done (which basically never happens in hockey), he’s staying with them.

No point risking your future for the possible chance to sign some big guy.

Leafs tried with Stamkos. Ujiri/Raptors tried with Giannis.

  24. Waffeln_Remix

What if cities only got homegrown boys. You guys get McDavid, Vancouver gets Bedard, we get… uh…

  25. Pope_Squirrely

It’s been highly speculated that next year, after his contract is up, he’ll sign with the Leafs. They’ve left space for it in their plans in case it does happen. Not sure what the team will look like then though, I figure Marner has 1 more year left with the leafs then he’s gone. They won’t let Matthews go for anything. Tavares though won’t be around. Nylander is a crap shoot, I figure he’ll be there.

  26. No.

They’ve already seen that tying up most of the cap in a limited number of contracts doesn’t work. Whether they’ve learned the lesson is another issue altogether.

  27. xtzferocity

    a new bigger 4!

    Mcdavid – 15 mil
    Matthews 13.5
    Nylander 11.5
    ????

  28. falsekoala

If he wants to get past the second round he won’t.

  29. ScreaminSeaman17

I’d trade Tavares and Nylander for that. Have them both.

  30. I’m pretty sure he wants to win a cup, why would he come here?
