Great analysis from Pete Blackburn. Connor McDavid, who I’m sure Pete Blackburn believes is the greatest player since Gretzky has 1 point in 2 games and he argues that Bouchard needs to be better. He does, but as always, hockey writers let McDavid off the hook. Next they’ll be saying he’s hurt. Florida Who? Are they even an NHL team? Team's younger than my son. Nevada won last year. Are we even invested in these expansion teams? (Unless you're betting on them, which is so sad on so many levels.) At least McDavid is a phenom and stunning to behold. But Florida? Effective but boring? I don't know folks, the NHL went from exciting back in the bad old days, to boringly mechanical for decades, and now just expansion team mania to the point of having no past, no meaning. Just a bet on who wins the faceoff which keeps eyes on the screen and makes everybody money (but the gambler) but the old emotional escapism for the loyal fan just seems like quaint thing of the past.
