One year deal… Feels like the last chance to establish himself.
Not bad, if he improves it’s a steal. If stagnates then it’s a very fair contract for a middle-bottom 6 wing. Does feel like both side expect for it to be a show up or get out year in 24-25 though.
Fair potential bridge deal. Either it works this season or he’s out the door.
Don’t hate this. Affordable cap hit and ability to flip with team control if needed.
If traded, it would be a deadline deal. It’s a light contract and is moveable for sure

Very nice. People are so hung up on what he was supposed to be that they disregard what he is. Absolutely worth keeping around for cheap.
Curious what this means for Othmann. I doubt they want to make Kakko or Othmann RW1 full time, but there’s only one RW3 spot for them.

He’s getting traded at the deadline

Great deal. If this is the year he finally discovers a scoring touch it’s a bargain, if he plays exactly like he did last season it’s decent value for bottom 6 winger who is great at defense and maintaining possession in the offensive zone but limited on offense, and if the Rangers end up including him in a package to bring in a genuine 1 RW it’s a team-friendly deal that most other teams wouldn’t have trouble fitting under their cap.
I’ll bet the house he gets moved at the trade deadline.

He’s at the point where he needs to be assessed at his salary cap and not his draft position. Not sure why some people are seeing this as the final chapter here.
