I would pursue Necas if the package that were giving away isn't an arm and a leg
Necas is a very good player, but, he will not lead the Hawks to the promised land. Don’t know what his current contract is,, but, anything more the $5.5 over 5 years will be an overpay. Keep the cap space for two years down the road when Foligno, Dickinson and Mzarak are up. By then we should have a better idea as to what they have in Bédard, Nazar, Moore, Korchinski, Rinzel, DelMastreo, Allan, and many other recently drafted players. Also Hall is off the books after the next season.
Necas would be a great pickup if the price is right, KD has a plan don’t sway away from it by giving up the farm for it.
The Hawks dont have the pieces the Canes want a top 6 NHL now player
they have Ds and can draft a top D this year 2nd OA. Chicago can part way this year with Korchinski

With the consensus building about the drop in talent after pick 15-16, it makes the Hawks trade down to 18 even more curious. Without a secondary deal before the draft involving that pick, I’ll be one scratching my head at the end of the first round. 🤔

The Hawks sold everything they had for picks over the last few years, there is nothing left to trade to a team who wants NHL ready players. You do not trade high draft picks at this point in the rebuild. The hawks are going to find out how hard it is to rebuild from nothing. They were blessed with Bedard and that might ease the growing pains a little. The NHL has it setup, so younger players are controlled by their teams, and it is hard to get younger players without having players to trade with. Picks are just maybes, and everyone is the best they can be until they fail.
Canes fan here with historical rooting interests for the Hawks. I’d hate to see Guentzel leave Carolina but if he does , I hope for Chicago. I don’t want him anywhere else in the eastern conference. As far is Necas, he is streaky. When he’s hot, he’s hot. When he’s not, he’s absolutely snakebitten. The guy tapers off in the postseason. He wouldn’t be a bad pick up for the Blackhawks if the prices right. He can definitely put pucks in the net during his hot streaks.

Two things about Pang: He’s a know-it-all (which isn’t uncommon for well-liked color guys), and he’s close with Ball. It’s pretty clear he paved the way for Rick to nab this job. That’s just life.
