Rangers need to dump Trouba while he has any value left. We can’t afford to pay $8M for a washed up 6th defenseman. He can barely keep up and it will get worse. Adding complimentary players isn’t going to improve our core.

1st thing we need to do before anything is to lock up Shesty long term next month. We need to release or trade Trouba, but I doubt there's a team willing to take him even if we do eat a good portion of his salary. If no one is willing to take him, i'd prefer to buy him out & take the $ hit to the cap as opposed to keeping him. He's too much of a liability. Also time to move on from Kakko, he hasn't made enough of an improvement to warrant keeping him, his game just doesn't fit with the team. I think a change of scenery will do him good.

There is no more reason to sign another forward, unless they are going to bury Edstom, Othman and Rempe.
I'm not a big fan of Bertuzzi. Yes he is physical, but he has a low hockey IQ IMO. I would never give him a 5 year contract at 5 million. He only got 1 year with the Leafs and was vastly overpaid. He's not a fit with Z & K because he is mostly a net front presence & Kreider already serves that role.
Bertuzzi is the type of guy who you hate when he plays against you and love when hes on your team
Get rid of trouba and then sign bertuzi and marshasalt
I honestly don’t understand why seemingly every other player other than 20 & 93 got moved around to play specific roles, like many others did? Are either of them still top 6 players? Removing emotion, selling high on 20 makes the most sense as you can easily replace his production with that freed up $ as he’s not worth that $ playing 3rd line, same arguments being made for 8 & 21.
I like the idea – we could use another tough winger that will back check and help our weak defense
Honestly I like the idea of Bertuzzi but his cost is too high in my opinion and the term. The rangers have the tough, gritty, get under your skin guys in their farm system and they are younger, come much cheaper, and have a higher ceiling. Bringing them up to fill wholes in the lineup I believe is a better option
He played well for Boston and Toronto in the playoffs. Hopefully we could afford him

Boston got him as a rental last year and was upset by Florida in the 1st round after getting 135 points in the regular season, an all time NHL record. Then Toronto signed him in the hope of getting the missing piece and lost AGAIN in the 1st round this year against Boston.
Seems to me that there is a new trend in the NHL. Trading for the "missing link".
Corey Perry is the best example. Playing in the finals for different teams 4 of the past 5 years only to lose each time.
Dallas in 2020 (lost against Tampa); Montreal in 2021 (lost against Tampa); Tampa in 2022 (lost against Colorado) and Edmonton in 2024 (they will lose against Florida unless a miracle happens).
The Rangers need to aim much higher in my humple opinion. I'd start with Zadorov if it's not possible to make a blockbuster trade to get Brady Tkachuk.
