if you look at the 3 years before the trade you would have seen he isnt a force. just had one good year. and the calgary GM deserves all the backlash, he didnt look back in time he just salivated at the last season in florida. he still has time to make himself worth the money but it doesnt look good for huberdeau
when he was with the Panthers, he wasn't 'the guy' that kept them from getting to the finals or possibly winning the cup…he's set for life and may just be finding out what some of those Florida fans are really like…
Newsflash, most players don't care about the Cup. They want as much money as possible in the short careers they have. It's literally their job.
It is the system more than the players in Calgary that is stifling Huberdeau. Plus, he didn't play with Barkov in Fla. except on the PP. He played with Bennett and Duclair.

I don't miss Hubey in Panthers at all, super soft complimentary forward. Though if I remember correctly he wanted more money in next contract than Florida was prepared to pay to him due his age and overall usefulness, so they were more than happy to offload him first change they got. In that sense Florida was super lucky that Thachuk wanted out of Calgary at the same time.
Funny enough if that contract money memory serves me right, had he been less greedy Florida might still have Hubey instead of Thachuk. So in some alternative universe Florida still has first round exits 😛
If he still play for Florida wouldn't be where they are now.
