Jake Guentzel. This team needs another addition to the top six and someone to play alongside Pettersson. While I really like Lindholm paying 7 to 7.5 million per season for a third line center, I don’t think it is what the team needs to do. More help for the top six needs to be a priority. Finding someone to play alongside Pettersson needs to be a priority. Jake Guentzel would be a great addition to this team. He could help the power play, which needs some help. He could give Pettersson a shooter to play with.

Guentzel. Get him to play alongside Petey & you will see the sort of impact that Hronek had this year being slotted next to huggy.

Huggy went from a top 5 Dman to the best this year –
Petey can probably go from a top 10 Center to top 5 with legit linemates.

Guentzel fills a more needed roll on this team IMHO.

My phone wants me to feel bad. It autocorrected Guentzel to Guenther.

    Fucking Benning.

  4. _CoconutsGo

I don’t want guentzel or $hronek. Let him cook.

Edit: hronek is a 5.5m defender right now beside Hughes. If he did his stats alone as a 1a he’s a 7m defender. His goals were down 40% from Detroit. If I’m Canucks management I’m not going above 5.75.

  5. metrichustle

We need a natural goal scorer and that’s Guentzel. He also knows how to perform in the playoffs, so that would help Peter

  6. cobbie17

Neither spend the money and make the team a more even team, rather than blowing their wad on one big one

  7. Malforian

Would people take both if we could trade Pettersson? ( Yes I know but an interesting thought experiment)

Both these come into 2nd line

  8. Jolly_Ad_5549

Guentzel is the better player but has already won the Cup and is likely more focused on his quality of life and pay VS Lindholm who I would hope is hungry to win his first Cup. So even though he’s not the better player, Lindholm.

I consider the depth at center experiment a huge success worthy to continue.

Every single pundit I’ve heard says you can’t invest that much cap at 3rd line center but that’s a simplistic take. We have many centers that can play wing so depth at center offers flexibility to mix and match players when one of them is slumping or injured or the chemistry of a line is falling off for some reason.

You can load them all up in the top six or have incredible defensive options playing separately. Plus if you invest in a an older winger when their scoring falls off they’re more likely to become a liability than a natural center who has been counted on for sound defense their entire career.

And also consider Miller’s defense has been incredible under Tocchet but that has not been his history. As he ages Lindholm may very well push Miller to the wing if Miller’s defensive game becomes inconsistent again.

  10. I prefer McDavid, Draisaital, Matthew Tkachuk and Casey DeSmith

  11. Charlie2343

For the same cap hit? Lindholm easy. He’s a center

starting to think its probably a long shot due to both players individual preferences, Makes the Hronek trade that much more interesting, because if we need to get a talented winger we will need trade assets, which we are way too low on right now to begin with. get the assets in the trade sign Pesce or Tanev or both till willander is up and ready to go. Ehlers out of winni is a very interesting option, but that probably means we need some size as well on that line with pettey, they should have tried joshua there this year at some point, it would have answered that question.

  13. 21marvel1

Guentzel because Lindholm is able to get term, a good AAV, and a guaranteed C position in a second line role, when he hits the open market so it’s not really our call. Guentzel on the wing of Petey is very nice to imagine. Just imagine Guentzel’s finishing ability in that situation instead of Mikheyev’s (sorry to say Ilya)

  14. Hongjohns

I’m going against the grain and say Lindholm. Centre depth is paramount in the playoffs, and you can utilize Pettersson as a winger (which Pettersson can play) if Lindholm centers the line which gives you versatility that Guentzel can’t

  15. Love both players, but I have to go with Guentzel. Not only for the offence but for the years experience he’s spent with the likes of Crosby, Malkin, and Letang.

  16. Semprovictus

    guentzel

    supports petey. nuff said.

we simply cannot keep lindholm, petey and Miller unless lindholm wants to win and takes a massive pat cut to be the best 3c in the league

  17. rippinkitten18

Lindholm is the closes thing to a barkov type player. I value these guys. We can get Lindy and move petey back to the wing. I don’t understand why toch never tried that. That said there’s a huge chance Jake might not even come to Vancity.

  18. vancityrp

100% guentzel. Not saying he’s a sure bet to work and Lindholm was awesome but we saw what team we were with Lindholm and we weren’t good enough so let’s not be satisfied with that and try to be better. Higher risk higher reward. If we have a chance to add a top 10 player on their position to our core without assets (other than cap) I think you do it. We won’t have the assets to add another long term fixture to our core via trade because we’re gonna need our two blue chips to contribute a bit during our window

  19. cinnamon-toast06

Neither. Resign Zadorov Myers and Hronek

  20. ImAnAfricanCanuck

do people realize that signing Guentzal means losing Boeser to free agency?

  21. backcheck142

We’re all missing the point here: get Guentzel, pair him with Crosby. Send Petie to Pittsburgh. Save money, go all-in for the next 2-4 years. Tamper the shit out of Guentzel and Crosby. Make those Pittsburgh connections count.
