1. 1 year deal for Hronek gotta see if he can play and produce for a full season then you can pay him what he’s worth long term

  2. I wouldn't risk giving him the 1 year deal and have him go to UFA and lose him for nothing. We either trade him at the draft or sign him long term. If he wants to be paid like he played in the 1st half, entirely with Hughes, that's not going to happen. 8×8 is probably not doable. I know right shot top 4s are harder to come buy, but he was invisible in the 2nd half and into the playoffs. He did nothing against Nashville and Edmonton. His defensive game also tailed off a bit too. They can't afford to have an albatross on their books with OEL's cap recapture penalty coming up. Move him, and if they can't find a true replacement, Pesce and Tanev are 2 options who can play top 4 minutes short term until guys like Pettersson 2.0 and Wilander are ready for prime time. Short term deals for both should work. The sample size doesn't make me confident that Hronek is the guy going forward at 8 million long term.

  3. Re: lack of upcoming players from recent drafts — not just Podkolzin. Just think if they they had made a better choice than Klimovich with that second rounder a few years ago. It sure would be helpful if Stankoven was in a Canucks' jersey right now, no?

  4. Rick Tocchet needs to be better! The Florida Panther who are on the cusp of winning the cup gave a system that all cup teams possess – they pressure the puck in all areas of the ice in every situation! They don’t get stuck in positional/structured play that is often second to the puck and gives teams too much time to make plays! Rick, I hope you’re watching how they play!

  5. Hronek is priority no. 1. End of story. Replacing him will cost $8m per year. Don’t cheap out on top line players. He is top pairing rightie. If you don’t pay him you’ll be paying someone else more or playing Huggy with Juulsen/Schenn types.

  6. They can easily be better this coming year — in the playoffs Demko and Boeser were out. Petersson and Hronek were playing hurt. With health you’re better. Without health you’re screwed anyway.

  7. The Canucks NEED a top pair D (which they currently have rights to) and they NEED a top winger to play with Pettersson next year. After that, the question becomes where do you want to spend the dessert money and how much of it will be available? Is it for big Z or Joshua or someone else?

  8. Quinn Hughes natural progression , could have done it with just about anybody(Tanev,Shenn). Giving Hronek too much credit for Hughes brilliance , certainly not 8 mil. worth of contribution
