  1. Wow!
Moritz Seider on an entry level contract rates at 98% !
(Early in the season but still)
    GM’s take note

  2. Jones almost had the OT winner against the leafs… he coulda been a hero.

I’ve been very impressed with Jones. Just needs to keep doin his thing

  3. seth jones is doing exactly what the hawks brought him in to do- provide offense from the blue line. but why the hawks suck so bad is that none of their forwards understand how to back-check. they need more 2-way forwards, and faster stay-at-home defensemen

  4. Problem with the Hawls runs deeper then Jones. They have inexistant bottom 6 depth, perhaps a good AHL rotation at best, past Jones there isn't much on defense and don't get me started on goaltending

  5. This is another trashing of a player based on analytics, the blackhawks are bad but it’s not because of Seth Jones, other than maybe 2 games he has been their best player

  6. 2 comments: 1) Chicago runs a 1-3-1 PP system, like most NHL teams these days, not technically an Umbrella. 2) Seth Jones has been exceptionally good on the ice for Chicago—consistently and noticeably their best player (except for Kane vs. Sens). He also plays 25+ minutes a night on a losing team that simply does not score 5 on 5 goals, so easy to see why proxy and composite metrics are whacky.

  7. Jack Bean GW tonight who virtually was picked up because of Jones being gone.. yeah.. right now, Jackets looking good with this trade, at the very worst for em it's a 50/50 trade for a couple seasons (because Jones will pick it up for a bit I believe) but long run, it's hard to see how the Jackets don't win this trade outright, Jarmo doesn't lose trades in the long run, maybe initial looks but not down the road , track record proves that. If Chicago tanks this year tho.. Holy ** this trade will be one of the worst ever done by Chicago and a game changer for Columbus

  8. You wanna be more offensive than Fox you just had Makar extend for 9 per as well. I mean the reality is not every player on the team has to be the same. Jones right now is producing at an elite offensive dman level. And Chicago is terrible. Expecting a guys who's playing 25 minutes a night to have a good plus minus on that team is frankly unreasonable. Now do I think a one dimensional offensive dman should make 9.5 per? Nope I certainly don't. I think Krug is an elite offensive dman in his own right and is underrated defensively and he only got 6.5. I think Dougie Hamilton is elite offensively and he got 9 but that was 9 million with a New Jersey team no one expected anything out of. His market value was probably more like 8. So did it make sense to lose a bunch of assets and give Jones more money? Certainly not. Could have probably traded Keith to a contender for relatively low return. Pocketed the cap space and used it toward signing Hamilton. That would have made more sense to do. But it is what it is. Columbus was terrible last year, Chicago is terrible this year. Who's to say what Jones might be if he was on a decent team with better parts around him? That is the decision you make when you sign with a rebuilding team and you make the max a player of your stature is likely to ever make. But do I think Jones is the worst defender in the league? Nope. I mean there's legit reasons why on a team that had Zack Werenski that Jones was still the number one ATOI guy year after year. I know everyone is super into advanced analytics and all but there is something to be said for the age old tested metrics too. The easiest way to see what dman a team thinks is the best they have is to look at who gets the most time on ice. And yeah being on bad teams and playing way over 20 minutes a night is going to lead to bad stat lines. I don't care how good of a dman you are.

  9. Miss Seth Jones but glad we got Sillinger. He is the youngest player in the NHL and just had 3 points against the Avalanche. He also went 7 of 9 on faceoffs. This doesn’t even include Bean with two goals and the game winner. And we also have another 1st rounder coming our way.

  10. The biggest problem is the Hawks have a high school coach. The players hate him more than the fans. Wake up Rocky. Bovquist is awful. No big loss. He will be back in Sweden after he sucks on his next deal. So about age 25..And I believe the Hawks 22 pick is protected if they tank to 1 or 2 in the lottery.

  11. He isn't a 9.5 million a year player. They paid him at least 2 million a year too much on the extension and gave up too many picks for him.

  12. They didnt give up much mostly maybes, Seth Jones is a stud if he can live up to his potential and has the character to be a stalwart. He is a star not a superstar. He cant do it alone. They didnt give up too much its just up to the Hawks to get it together.

  13. I watch all the Hawks games and I’ve been very impressed with Seth Jones’ play so far.Still think he’s overpaid but he continues to improve. If he can start scoring more he can be very good for the team. Plus he plays a ton of minutes so he’s a very good replacement for Duncan Keith as far as ice time goes.

  14. Ladies and gentleman, everybody's favorite dog to kick, THE CHICAGO BKACKHAWKS!
Hurray! They're down kick them in the head! Again! One more time! Don't stop!
    Such fun!

  15. Wasn't Chayka supposed to be an analytics darling?? You'd have to be nuts if you're putting all your eggs in the analytics basket when talking about a player like Seth Jones.
