@Flames de Calgary

NJ aurait évolué si nous avions continué à attendre, le marché des gardiens de but n’est pas vraiment sec en ce moment.

    I still think we made off like bandits. A bit of that was a lore that was built about Jakob last season that wasn’t really reflected in his play. Markstrom had a .899 save percentage the last two years and is 34. I would have loved to of gotten the tenth overall or the first overall for that matter. But New Jersey paid a massive price for a mid goaltender. Much higher chance New Jersey regrets this than Calgary.

    A young D and a first seems like a reasonable return to be honest

    Should have thrown in huberdeau instead of retaining salary.

    It was a good deal either way. People are so incredibly upset over it because they thought you could get the 10th overall. That was pretty much always a pipe dream in my opinion.

    Vickers on the radio said it best today ‘It’s not a home run, it’s a single or double at best’

    The retention killed a better deal at the deadline, and now it’s just in there and we can only leverage that once a year over the next couple of years. I also don’t like the protection, it seems like we conceding the perks, and limited our upside.

    We will have to wait five years to see this play out, but a late first and another bottom pairing guy *’with upside’* isn’t what I was hoping to see.

    Earlier I was pissed, I’ve calmed down a bit, but I am underwhelmed, the timing, the conditions and the return really didn’t add to up what I thought a deal could be, is there really anyone here in our system we would want more than a top ten pick?

    Time to take on some more bad contracts and like it. No pain, no gain. Suck it up boys and girls.

    I think this is as good a trade as the Flames realistically could have expected. Realistically, they aren’t making the playoffs the next two years. 34 isn’t old for a goalie, but it’s not young either, and Markstrom’s play the past season or two indicates to me that he is past his peak. Loading up on young talent/prospects makes total sense to me.

    I’m an Oilers fan, and while I’d be lying if I said it brought me no joy to see your guys team crumble after 2022, the rivalry is no fun when one team is significantly better. I’m rooting for Conroy to get you guys out of your current predicament and I think accepting the mess Treliving left and building out of it by focusing on building a deep farm system is the best way to do that.
