Je regarde cette vidéo probablement une fois par mois. Orpik était juste différent. Il était allergique au fait de marquer des buts, mais j’adorais regarder ce mec jouer au hockey avec un maillot des Penguins.
Is this the game where Thornton attacked him? If so I remember exactly where I was watching this game. It’s a core memory.
This is like 90’s video game physics…

Don’t see hits like that anymore. Brooks was a hitting machine

Honestly this is a perfect example of a clean open ice hit.
Also, it looks like the guy he hit just skated into him and ricocheted fifteen feet like they hit one of those things in a pinball machine.

Legend has it he’s still in the air.

Gorgeous hit, bit give credit where credit is due. What an elegant way of getting back up by Paille

I’m glad he continued to have success after the Penguins, it was just difficult seeing him in a Caps jersey. I wish he had retired a Penguin.

What a beaut.

Orpik was a monster 🔥

Holy shit! No one immediately attacked him for a clean hit.

Orpik lived in my head rent free. I’ve gotten older and am less interested in hyper-physical play, but that was the game for most of his time, and he did it well.
He was actually one of the ones that inspired me to appreciate defense more. In his prime, he just seemed to always be everywhere.
Edit: but yeah, watching this took me right back to watching that game and just stunned. I had to watch it a few times over because it looked a hit from the early EA NHL games.

Cal O’Reilly was almost in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Also didn’t realize Tyler Kennedy was still on the Pens at this point.
