Look around the NHL. Most "mistakes" are paying just above average players 4-6 million dollars. Even just look at the Canucks. Mikheyev, Garland, and Kuzmenko all in the last 3 years. All at some point were looked at as huge mistakes. Only Garland has been able to redeem himself and even then I think if Allvin and company could move on from his cap hit they would. Pay for star players and find value for the rest of the lineup. Also Hughes/Hronek was the best pair for goal differential until the all star break. You guys talk about it like it was for a few weeks at the start of the season. No it was 5 months!

What an absolutely atrocious contract. paying him star money over a LONG TERM — a player who is good and not great. Really concerned about the contracts this management team is handing out to players that aren't playoff beasts (Pettersson and Hronek).
I sure hate to let Big Z go. My experience tells me that having the toughest/strongest player on the ice is HUGE. Especially when he has all of the extras that Z has.
