I'm a Habs fan and when the Kings signed him – I said WHEW ! Tha Caps have lost so many players for various reasons, they basically just traded for a warm body ! How many games before he wants a trade ?
I bought an Eric Lindros rookie card back when he was still in the league… I'm glad I didn't waste my money on anything with PLD's name on it!
Smart move by the Caps. PLD must deliver this season, otherwise his reputation is completely ruined. Caps got a strong center for the coming years. There are not many centers of this quality available. The losing party are the Kings who have no successor for Kopitar.
The two winners of this mess are the Jets, and PLD's bank account.

The guy was SOOOOO clearly in it for himself, not a team guy, and he's the biggest proof imo of how I almost NEVER trust a player who values stuff like "living by the beach" vs how they're treated by an organization, what their position is with the organization, vs what they could do with other teams… Etc etc… I just don't want the guys who don't want to be in Winnipeg because "it's boring"
Let's get the family guys who recognize the value of raising a family here… Let's get the guys like Bucky, who live to fish, etc etc. You can do whatever you want when you're not playing, but when you're playing, it's time to focus on your career that pays you millions.

Caps are so desperate for young experienced goal scorers, which are hard to get. LA wasnt a fit. Caps will have plenty of opportunity for PLD. Carbery turned Mantha around and got the Caps to the playoffs. Caps organization proved it with Strome and Milano.
Caps have a strong locker. 25+ goals along with 40+ Assists will be a steal. Nobody is talking about Oshie may also be done. If that happens, with this trade, CAPS will have $18 mil. Still can bring in a quality player or 2.

The only advantage i see PLD will only have to beat Dylan Strome in Washington to be the #1 Center in Washington. Niklas Backstrom is injured and will be missed. Kuznetsov was trades to Carolina.

The Kings basically traded vilardi for PLD. When this happened I thought vilardi is better than him but injury prone and he is injury prone as he will max at 50 gms a season. Iafallo is a 3/4th liner at 4M, Kupari needs improvement and a 2nd rd pick develops fully 5 years from now. The Kings look bad here but kudos to not double down on a mistake.
Watching a few minutes of this broadcast as a LA sports fan who has witnessed many many championships won by my home teams in all sports I feel truly blessed.
