When trouba was out, and the rangers looked really good with jones
Zac has way more offensive upside than Guffstason and the rangers were a joy to watch when he was in. in today's NHL you need players with the cap hit zac has.
Way too small for playoff hockey. Guy is a lightweight and gets crushed physically what are you thinking ? Also Eric Gus is much more physical
Guff is better. I like Zac attitude. He's a team player but they need size. Trade him , get ufa Nikita zadorov. Big strong d-man and If lindgren wants 6mil let him go. Love lindy but he's asking too much if the 6 mil asking price is accurate. KZ would be great.
I don't have much love for any ranger D besides fox and Schneider I love lindgrens tenacity but he is no defensive wonder. I don't see why not give jones a slot to begin the season if it doesn't work out I don't see us being worse off .
Jones deserves at least 40 games, if not a full season, to get comfortable and show what he has. Laviolette clearly doesn't have the most trust in him, but Drury has to tell him to play Jones.
Jones is an offensively gifted D-man, but that's not what I want on a third D pair. I want D-men that can win puck battles along the boards in the defensive zone. You can't move the puck if you don't have it & board play in the D-zone is a real weakness for this team. Look at the 94 Cup winners. Two gifted puck moving D(Leetch & Zubov) & four guys who were tough & had strong sticks in the D-zone(Wells,Lidster, Beuk, Potsie). Zadorov would be ideal there. For the same reason I was not a Pionk fan, I'm not a big Jones fan. I'd try to trade him, maybe in a package with Kakko.
