  1. I do not want Toffoli on the Bruins. His defensive skills are poor and do not fit the Bruins’ structured play. I’d like to see DeBrusk signed for 3-4 years around 6. He can get more elsewhere so whether he stays can be his decision.

  2. As for our own free agents, the only ones I would want back are: Swayman, DeBrusk and Boqvist, the rest can all go. I really hope they let Maroon and JVR sail off into the sunset, these guys are way too slow for this game now.

  3. It's fairly easy to make all of the calls on the Bruins pending UFAs/RFAs

    The Obvious Ones:

Pay RFA Jeremey Swayman. He's going to get $7m-$8M. It is what it is

Pay RFA Brandon Bussi: He's their best goalie prospect now, so…

    Defense UFAs:

Grzelyck- No. Why? Soft, not physical, over 30, breaks in the playoffs
Shattenkirk- No. Why? Old, slow, not physical
Forbort- No. Old, not physical enough. Slow. Injury prone

    Forward UFAs:

Jake Debrusk: Yes, BUT… Only up to $6M x 5 years, after that, no thanks
Debrusk is likely going to get $7M+ X at 6 or 7 years so he's more than likely gone anyway

All the Bruins Bottom 6 UFA Forwards:
    Heinen, JVR, Maroon, Megna….

    All "NO"s. Why?

The Bruins desperately need Top 6 help. Thus they have to spend EVERY dollar on real Top 6 players

Whatever money is left, sign some PTO scrubs like Sweeney did last year if it comes down to it to fill out the bottom of the roster

However, it seems as though the Bruins bottom 6 next year is already a done deal anyway:

Frederic Geekie Coyle Poitras Brazzeau Lauko Beecher…

Even if you say both Coyle and Poitras wind up in the Bruins Top 6 next year… Fine…

Patrick Brown is still signed for next year and Jesper Boqvist is an easily resignable RFA at cheap money

So the bottom 6 next year would include some combination of Frederic Geekie Brazzeau Lauko Beecher Brown Boqvist and or …… one or more or the bottom 6 guys down in PVD

Not to mention all that's down Providence next year are potential bottom 6, AHL tweeners anyway (except maybe Fabian Lysell) in guys like Merkulov, Harrison, Kuntar, Farinacci, Duran and McLaughlin

    Thus it's BEYOND CLEAR!!!!

That even if the Bruins don't commit a single dollar of UFA money to an additional bottom 6 UFA… The Bruins should be all set in their bottom 6 next year anyway

So goodbye to Heinen, Maroon JVR and Jason Megna. Thanks for the memories…

As the Bruins don't have a 1st or 2nd round pick in 2024

As the Bruins didn't have a 1st or a 2nd round pick last year

As the Bruins have only drafted only TWICE in the 1st round in the last 7 years and only THREE times in the 2nd round in the last 7 years going back to 2018….

Don't expect anything from the Bruins crap farm system to come up and magically save the day for the big club next year either. It's not going to happen

And the few guys that did come out of the draft going back to 2018 are already here in Poitras, Lohrei, Lauko and Beecher

There is no next wave of Bruins prospects, it's already here

Maybe Fabian Lysell figures it out

However, after Lysell there is nothing left on the Farm but a bunch of bottom of the roster forwards anddefenseman or late round long shots that are all years away

And that assumes some of these late round lottery tickets even make it to Providence, let alone the NHL and news flash, the odds say most, if not all of them, won't make it

So again "NO" on all the Bruins current UFA bottom 6 forwards

Also, "NO" on all of the Bruins current bottom of the roster D-men that are UFAs

    Re-sign Swayman and Bussi

Re-sign Debrusk if he'll take a home town discount at $6M x 5, other than that, let him walk

Trade Ullmark for Cap Space, a prospect and or a draft pick if at all humanly possible

    After that….

Either sign two UFA Top 6 two centers and move Zacha and or Coyle to wing

    OR

Sign one Top 6 UFA center, one Top UFA 6 wing, move one or both of Zacha and Coyle to wing and sign a third pair UFA LD

The Two Top 6 Center UFAs Option:

Sign both Elias Lindholm and Chandler Stephenson

Next Year's Boston Bruins Top 6:

    Zacha / E. Lindholm / Pasta
    Marchand / C. Stephenson / Coyle

This would be really interesting because this roster configuration would see the Bruins have a Top 6 right shot center and Top 6 left shot center on both of their top two lines.

From a matchup standpoint at the face-off dot that'd be a fairly good advantage to have

Zacha (left shot) / Lindholm (right shot)
Stephenson (left shot) / Coyle (right shot)

No matter what side of the ice, the Bruins could always have a Top 6 center option taking face off when it matters most

    OR

The sign one Top 6 center and bring in a UFA wing Option: (which would likely leave enough money to upgrade their third pair LD):

-Sign either Elias Lindholm or Chandler Stephenson at center

-Sign Anthony Duclair to replace Debrusk

-Then sign a third pair D-man like Brendan Dillon to pair with Peeke and to move Wotherspoon down to being a good #7 D-Man

    2024/2025 Roster using this plan:

    Marchand / E. Lindholm or C. Stephenson/ Pasta
    Duclair / Zacha / Coyle
    Frederic / Geekie / Brazeau
    Lauko / Beecher / Boqvist

Matt Poitras and or Fabian Lysell could be in the mix for roster spots too

    Brendan Dillon / McAvoy
    Lindholm / Carlo
    Lohrei / Peeke

    Swayman
    Bussi

    7th D-Man: Parker. Wotherspoon

13th Forward: One of Jesper Boqvist (if Poitras makes the team), Patrick Brown, Riley Duran, John Farinacci, Trevor Kuntar, Georgii Merkulov or Brett Harrison

Who knows what Don Sweeney will do though.

Either he'll pull off some whack-a-do trade no one saw coming or Sweeney will do something predictably dumb like give Danton Heinen 3 years at a $3M AAV with a full No Trade Clause

Anything is possible with Don Sweeney both the good and the bad….

We are all about to find out…
